    Brazilian businessman Diego Lemos is to become a majority shareholder in the club, subject to consent from the English Football League - but who exactly is he?

    The 35-year-old lives in Qatar and has a background in football.  

    Lemos is a FIFA football agent, working mostly in Asia, and has around 10 years experience.

    His father, Luisinho Tombo, was a striker in Brazil from 1973-1994 who went on to manage teams until 2009. 

    Lemos' uncles Caio Cambalhota and Cesar Maluco were also footballers. Maluco was part of Brazil's World Cup squad in 1974.

  7. Lancaster University ranked top in the North West again

    Lancaster University has been ranked 9th in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.

    It is the highest ranking of any university in the North West, a title Lancaster has held for more than a decade.

    Elsewhere in the county, The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is ranked 10th.

    Lancashire have lost their crucial relegation clash at Warwickshire by 237 runs leaving their County Championship Division One status hanging by a thread.

    The Red Rose county must hope that Hampshire fail to beat Durham, who are are currently 83 for one chasing 212 runs.

    The club tweeted: "It's all down to Durham to save us."

  9. Prison officer jailed over affair with an inmate from Lancaster

    A prison officer, who had an intimate relationship with an inmate, has been jailed for six months.

    Melissa Priestley, 33, who worked at HMP Low Newton near Durham, also gave her female lover special privileges, Durham Crown Court was told. 

    The court heard the affair was uncovered when Leonie Kinnish, who is originally from Lancaster, had her cell searched following a tip off.

    At an earlier hearing Priestley admitted misconduct in public office.

    Kinnish is serving a five-year sentence for robbery and has now been moved to Styal Prison in Cheshire.

  10. Tributes paid to 'exceptionally nice' Maundy Relief volunteer

    Tributes have been paid to a charity volunteer who has died in hospital after he was found with a fractured skull.

    Raich Keith Alcock, from Accrington, passed away at Royal Preston Hospital on Friday, 16 September.

  11. 'No casualties' after Blackpool building fire

    Lancashire Fire and Rescue service have said there were "no casualties" in a fire at a commercial property on Empress Drive.

    Sniffer dogs were deployed to search the building following reports people may have been inside.

    The fire service said an investigation into the cause of the blaze could last several days.

  13. Bus crash causes disruption in Preston city centre

    A crash between a car and a bus has been causing traffic problems in Preston city centre.

    Police were called to the junction of Bow Lane and Fishergate at around 08:45 following the collision involving a blue Fiat and a single-decker-bus.

  14. Online singing star, 80, releases first single

    An elderly man with Alzheimer's disease who became an internet star singing in the car with his son has released his first single.

    Known as The Songaminute Man online, Ted McDermott was diagnosed with the condition in 2013.   

    Now the 80-year-old has been signed by the Decca Records label to release his single, in which he sings a cover of Frank Sinatra's You Make Me Feel So Young. 

    Royalties from the single will will be split between the charity and the McDermott family.
