    A Kent-based animal welfare group is claiming victory after the government announced plans for compulsory CCTV cameras in slaughterhouses.

    Animal Aid says the move will help stop the illegal cruelty they've exposed through undercover filming.

  3. 'We feel abandoned and let down'

    The parents of two severely disabled children forced to sleep in the living room of their council house in Ramsgate because they can't get up the stairs, say they feel "abandoned and let down" by the authorities.

    They've turned down one house they were offered because they say it's not suitable.

    Thanet District Council say they don't have anything else available.

    Kent Police is appealing for help in locating a man missing from Dymchurch.

    Stephen McGowan, 57, is last known to have been in the area of the New Beach Holiday Centre at around 19:30 BST on Monday 14 August.

    He is described as white with grey balding hair and was last seen wearing a cheque shirt, dark trousers and may either be wearing or carrying a high visibility jacket.

    Officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

    President Trump has been criticised for delaying his condemnation of white extremist groups, including neo-Nazis and the KKK, after demonstrations in Charlottesville on Saturday.

    One woman died and 19 others were injured when a car rammed into people protesting against a far-right march.

    Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage told BBC Radio Kent the violence was "not Donald Trump's fault".
