  6. Cricket: Essex Eagles suffer T20 Blast defeat to Spitfires

    Essex Eagles lost their T20 Blast match against Kent Spitfires at the Beckenham County Ground.

    Daniel Bell-Drummond hit an unbeaten 90 from 55 balls to steer the hosts to a comfortable seven-wicket win yesterday.

    Essex, who lost narrowly in a tight run-chase at home to Surrey on Friday night in the same competition, were again seriously out-gunned and are left looking for their first victory in two starts.

    Essex Eagles will be looking to bounce back when Somerset visit Chelmsford on Thursday in the second of seven home games in the T20 Blast.

    The parents of a man murdered in Cyprus have expressed their shock over the release of a murder suspect in the northern part of the island.

    Estate agent George Low, 22, from Dartford, was killed near a nightclub in Ayia Napa in Cyprus in August.

    An arrest warrant was issued for Sali Ahmet, 42, who fled to the north with a second suspect, Mehmet Akpinar, 22.

    They were arrested there for an unrelated offence but both were allowed to leave without being charged.

  9. New TV channel for Kent

    A new television channel dedicated to Kent has launched.

    KMTV is a partnership between the University of Kent and the KM Media Group.

    Its flagship news programme, Kent Tonight, was the first programme to air at 17:30 BST.

    The channel aims to show news, sport and entertainment from around the county.

    Partly funded by the BBC, it can been seen on freeview, cable and online.

  11. Investigation into salon burglary

    Witnesses are being sought to a burglary at a hair salon in Ramsgate.

    Electrical items, hairdressing equipment and cash were taken from Pure Escapism Hair and Beauty on the High Street.

    It's believed the burglary took place during the early hours of yesterday morning.

    A woman from Kent says it's "shameful" her husband had to travel to Switzerland to end his life, rather than being allowed to die at home in Tonbridge.

    Sarah Starkey supported Andrew Tyler, who was suffering from Parkinson's Disease, on his final journey to the Dignitas Clinic.

    Andrew Tyler from Tonbridge decided he couldn't live with Parkinsons disease, so went to the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland to take his own life.

    In the weeks beforehand he kept a video diary.

  18. Missing: Have you seen Christian?

    Police are appealing for information about a missing man from Maidstone.

    Christian Collins was last seen on Friday afternoon near Hermitage Lane and it's thought he was wearing blue jeans and a checked shirt at the time.

    Officers believe he is still in the West Kent area or could have travelled to Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells or Medway.
