  3. Museum unveils unusual discoveries

    Major Percy Powell-Cotton was a big game hunter turned naturalist, who travelled the world, and brought thousands of stuffed animals and other extraordinary items back home to Thanet.

    Quex Park is now a museum and staff rummaging through boxes in storage have found a bizarre array of objects they never knew they had.

    There's a penguin collected by Ernest Shackleton, some Ugandan elephant toenail clippings, and a monkey from Dreamland.

    A senior South East Conservative MP is defending the decision to keep Chris Grayling as Secretary of State for Transport.

    Many commuters are angry at Mr Grayling for not intervening directly to try to end the Southern Rail dispute, which began in April 2016.

    But Reigate's Crispin Blunt is backing him.

    Southern Rail passengers say they're disappointed that Chris Grayling's kept his job as Secretary of State for Transport.

    Passengers have faced widespread disruption and more than a year of strike action over Driver Only Operated trains.

    A26 Kent - A26 Quarry Hill Road in Tonbridge exit slip road closed and very slow traffic southbound between Southborough Turn Off and Tonbridge, because of an accident involving single vehicle. Diversion in operation - local diversion is in place via Quarry Hill and the A2014 then A26 Pembury Road to re-join the A21.

  11. Commemorating one of Kent's most important battles

    Events are being held to mark the 350th anniversary of the Battle of Medway.

    It was one of England's worst naval defeats, with Dutch troops occupying Sheerness fort and their fleet destroying and capturing several Royal Navy ships in Chatham.

    The Dutch have sent a navy warship to take part in the council's two-week commemoration of the event.

  15. Hotel deal for Paramount Resort

    A deal has been reached between the planned Paramount Resort in north Kent and InterContinental Hotels Group to bring 4,000 guest rooms to the site.

    The resort on the Swanscombe Peninsula, near Dartford, would be twice the size of the Olympic Park and include 5,000 hotel rooms and a water park.

    The latest plans for the entertainment resort will go on public display in autumn this year, before a Development Consent Order is submitted to the Secretary of State.

    The £2bn resort is scheduled to open in 2022.
