  7. Boy left fighting for his life

    A nine-year-old boy has been flown to hospital with life threatening injuries after a car he was travelling in crashed with a Volvo Estate on the A20, London Road, Sevenoaks.

    The female driver of the vehicle was also taken to a London hospital with serious injuries. Both people remain in hospital at this time.

    Police are investigating a reported rape in Canterbury.

    Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are currently at the scene, in University Road.

    Officers were called at 03:41 BST today.

    Severe disruption: M20 Kent eastbound

    M20 Kent - M20 lane closed on exit slip road and heavy traffic coastbound at J10, A20 (Ashford South), because of a broken down vehicle.

  10. Southern to run no trains without second crew member

    For the next two weeks no Southern trains, aside from the Brighton mainline, will run in Sussex if a second member of staff isn't available.

    The operator has spent the last year in a dispute with the RMT and Aslef unions over the introduction driver-only operated trains, with the unions seeking a guarantee of a second member of staff on board at all times.

    Yesterday the drivers' union Aslef suspended its overtime ban for a fortnight.

    Today the BBC has learned Southern has agreed that, during this time, no trains will run without a second member of staff present, except on mainline and metro services.

    After three years alongside John Warnett, Maggie Doyle is to leave the BBC Radio Kent breakfast show.

    The former Absolute radio breakfast presenter is to return Ireland after delivering 3 years of strong growth for the BBC Radio Kent Breakfast show.

  13. Two injured in Herne Bay

    A man's suffered serious injuries to his hand, in an incident in Herne Bay.

    Police were called to the property in Charles Street at 22:09 BST last night.

    The 27-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were both taken to hospital.

    Officers recovered what they're describing as a bladed weapon from the scene.

    No arrests have been made.

    Kent police and ambulances are on the scene at Peel Street, Maidstone after concerns were raised for a man's welfare.

    The road is currently closed.
