  8. Arrests over reported squirrel scam in Tunbridge Wells

    Two people have been arrested following reports of a roofing scam in Tunbridge Wells involving a dead squirrel.

    A 34-year-old man from the Tunbridge Wells area is being held on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

    It was alleged a man has been knocking on doors offering unnecessary roof repairs.

    On at least one occasion this person inspected the roof of a property, before producing a dead squirrel and demanding money to clear a pest infestation.

    A 22-year-old woman from the Tunbridge Wells area was also arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation. She has been released, pending further investigation.

    Lifeguards will soon be stationed at Camber Sands, where seven men drowned last year.

    The RNLI says if the beach you’re at doesn’t have lifeguards, take extra care if you are going into the water.

    If lifeguards are on patrol, then you’ll need to know your flags.
