  2. Train complaints soar

    Southern train

    Passenger complaints about trains operated by Southern rail's parent company soared at the end of last year, according to new figures. 

    Four times as many complaints were received by Govia Thameslink Railway between October and December, compared to the same period a year earlier. 

    The operator says the figures are "disappointing but not surprising" in light of industrial action. 

    It claims complaint rates have since started to fall as the performance of its trains has improved.

    The dying father of a Kent woman who was raped and battered to death almost 30 years ago has made a final appeal to her killer to give himself up, so that he can go to his grave in peace.

    Officers from Kent Police are appealing for information to help locate a boy who is reported missing from Sherwood in Tunbridge Wells.

  11. Former Dover midfielder charged with robbery

    A former Kent footballer has been charged with robbery. 

    25-year-old Liam Bellamy, formerly of Dover Athletic and now of Aldershot Town has been bailed to appear at court on 11 April alongside Ian Vincent Foster, 55, and Michael Steel, 53, both from Chigwell, Essex.


    The incident is alleged to have taken place on 9 November 2015 in Greenhithe while he was still under contract with the Kent team. 

    An Aldershot Town FC spokesman said the club has been made aware of the charge against Liam Bellamy but cannot comment further at this stage.

  15. Westminster terrorist with South East links

    The man who killed at least four people in an attack in London was born in Kent, and was previously jailed over a knife crime in Eastbourne.

    Before he ploughed a rented car through pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and fatally stabbed a police officer outside Parliament, Khalid Masood, was born in Dartford under the name Adrian Russell Elms.

  17. Rochester town crier dies

    Rochester’s iconic town crier Robin Burfoot has died at the age of 81. 

    Robin had been in the voluntary for 12 years and was a popular figure in Rochester town centre with both locals and tourists.

    I filmed with him back in 2005 when he was preparing for his new role and trying on his uniform for the very first time.
