    That was until the extraordinary snowman he created for his son in their back garden went viral.

  5. Dover hammer attacker jailed

    A man who attacked two people with a hammer has been sentenced for four years and eight months.

    Thaddeus Wilson

    Thaddeus Wilson, who is 19-years-old and from Dover, attacked both people in the early hours of Thursday 25 August 2016, which resulted in them needing hospital treatment. 

    Wilson was charged with two counts of wounding with intent, criminal damage a possession of an offensive weapon.  

    Cameron Lawson

    21-year-old Cameron Lawson, who was also involved in the attack, was charged with affray and sentenced to 16 months.

  11. Do you recognise this man?

    The unknown man was found dead in a field on the outskirts of Canterbury at the start of the month, but police have been unable to work out who he is.

    The man’s body was discovered by a member of the public on land close to Hollow Lane, near the A2 crossover, on the morning of Friday 3 February, 2017.

    His cause of death is awaiting test results; however it is being treated as non-suspicious.

  13. Coles to miss pre-season games

    Kent fast bowler Matt Coles will miss next month's North v South & MCC Champion County pre-season matches in Abu Dhabi due to a toe injury.

    The 26-year-old was sidelined for three matches on the recent Regional Super 50 tour to the West Indies with the problem.

    And he’s opted to stay at home as a precaution to ensure he’s fully fit for the start of Kent’s County Championship Division Two promotion push which begins in early April.

  15. Yarnold gears up for World Championships

    Olympic skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold says she is "fired up" for the World Championships after a "disappointing" return to the sport.

    After completing a  career grand slam  in 2015, Yarnold took a year's sabbatical citing  exhaustion  before returning to action late last year.

    She claimed silver in her in second race back, but after struggling with a back injury came 11th in her last race.

    The first two of four World Championship runs for the female skeleton sliders begin on Friday in Konigssee, Germany, with the second two on Saturday.

  18. Man dies in Herne crash

    An investigation is underway after a man died in a car crash in Herne. 

    Police were called to Canterbury Road near the junction with Bullockstone Road at about 14:45 GMT yesterday. 

    A black Audi TT is reported to have left the road. 

    A 45-year-old local man died at the scene.
