  9. Budget passes but with amendments

    Rajdeep Sandhu

    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Kent

The budget that Kent County Council set has passed, but with some amendments.

The county council's UKIP, Lib Dem and Labour groups all succeeded in getting something.

Unusually the parties shared their amendments ahead of the full council meeting, and everything seemed on the whole quite conciliatory.

I'm told each party received an offer that the Conservative group would back their amendments in support for the budget.

I'm awaiting a full list on which way each councillor voted. Ten Labour councillors and six Liberal Democrats didn't support the budget, and I'm told 7 UKIP councillors voted against as well.

    Mackerel fishing

A "no-take zone" four times the size of the City of London has been established in the River Medway, to conserve fish stocks.

It covers 12.1 square kilometres (4.6 square miles), and will protect shallow water used as nursery areas by juvenile fish.
