  4. Southern Strike latest - analysis

    Helen Catt

    Political editor, BBC South East

With RMT drivers due out on strike, there are questions over whether drivers who are members of Aslef will cross their picket lines.

Meanwhile a Conservative MP is seeking to change the law, to make it harder for unions to call strikes on the railways.

Aslef Is not making any official statements all the time that the talks are ongong at the TUC. It's slightly complicated, in that is NOT their union on strike or their dispute.

While it is still about safety and driver operated doors, it is legally a separate action. Southern says the RMT strike as it stands won't affect its plans for a full service.

As for that bill in Parliament - it's being put tomorrow morning by Chris Philp - It's just the first stage.

He's not expecting any opposition, but it's worth remembering it is a private members bill, and those are very hard to actually get passed into law.

He will face a challenge if he doesn't get Government backing for it, and it's not one that's likely to get much support from other parties.

    NHS sign

All women who are registered with a GP are invited for cervical screening and the NHS suggests the following:
