  6. Protect your valuables this Christmas

    With Christmas just around the corner, Kent Police is reminding motorists to remove valuables from their cars after receiving several reports of theft from vehicles in Ramsgate.

    Between 21:30 GMT on Thursday 8 December and 07:15 GMT on Friday 9 December, a car window was smashed in Park Road and a mobile phone and a quantity of cash was stolen. Over the same night, a purse containing credit cards was stolen from a car parked in Station Approach Road.

    There were four other incidents in the area too. 

  7. War medals stolen in Maidstone

    Police are investigating a reported burglary after four military medals were stolen from a property in Maidstone. The medals, which were placed inside a silver frame, included one which was awarded for long service in the Royal Navy.

    Some of these medals are believed to have been awarded during the Second World War, with the long service medal being issued later, perhaps in the 1950s or 1960s. 

    Two other medals, which were awarded by the Scouts, are also reported to have been taken. These are a Silver Acorn and a Medal of Merit.

  8. 'He had so much more to give'

    The family of a Dartford man who was stabbed to death in Cyprus have described their pain and anger at the delays bringing his killers to justice.    

    George Low was murdered in the resort of Ayia Napa in August.

  11. 'It's amazing to get some recognition for the sport'

    His table-topping celebration after winning gold in Rio was one of the most iconic moments of the 2016 Paralympic Games, and now Groombridge table tennis star Will Bayley's been recognised for his achievement. 

    He's been presented with an outstanding achievement award by the Sports Journalists Association at a glittering ceremony at the Tower of London.

    The 28-year-old was born with arthrogryphosis and also overcame childhood cancer.

  13. Pedigree cats found abandoned

    Two young Persian cats have been found abandoned and close to death in Biddenden.

    The RSPCA says they were skinny and dehydrated, and their fur had become matted.

    The cats, which are less than a year old, are being cared for at the Ashford Garden Cattery.

  14. Go-Ahead warns of Southern Rail strike impact

    Go-Ahead has warned that its rail division will miss full-year financial forecasts because of continuing strike action on Southern Rail.

    It owns 65% of the Southern franchise through Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and expects its entire rail division to fall "slightly below" estimates.

    For the first six months of the year, turnover on GTR services is forecast to slide by 4%. Journeys on Southern have been severely disrupted by strikes. Read the full story here.

  16. Sherlock Holmes spotted in Chatham

    Top American comedy actor Will Ferrell has been filming a major movie version of Sherlock Holmes at The Historic Dockyard in Chatham. 

    Filming has been taking place at the Kent location over the past couple of weeks and is due to end tomorrow.

    Holmes and Watson, a humorous take on Arthur Conan Doyle's classic mysteries, is due for release in 2018 and also stars Kelly Macdonald and Rob Brydon. 

    Will Ferrell has filmed scenes at the Chatham tourist location. 

    It's the latest in a long line of high profile films and TV shows to be shot at The Historic Dockyard including both Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes films, Les Miserables and the BBC's Call The Midwife.
