'We were one kick away'

Matt Cole

Sports Editor, BBC Radio Kent

Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders told BBC Radio Kent he was "gutted" by Rochdale's last second equaliser in their FA Cup first round tie.

Despite being 57 places below their League One opponents in the football pyramid, Maidstone weren't flattered by the 1-0 lead they took into the last moments of injury time, and had chances to extend their lead.

They'll now travel to Rochdale for a replay, provisionally arranged for Tuesday 15 November.

We were one kick away. I think the boys deserved to go through, they did everything we asked them to do and our game-plan worked, but that's football. It's a tough one to take, but we move on, we're still in it, and we'll have another crack at it in ten days' time."

Maidstone United FA Cup disappointment

Claire Cottingham

BBC Live reporter

It would've been the biggest shock of the FA Cup first round, Maidstone United were on track to beat League One Rochdale.

But they were denied the win after their opponents equalised in the final moments of the match.

The Stones were on course for a place in the second round after Bobby-Joe Taylor's first half penalty, but they will have to settle for a replay after Rochdale's Callum Camps clawed it back from the jaws of defeat with an injury time equaliser.

Holcombe remain top of the table

Claire Cottingham

BBC Live reporter

Holcombe Hockey club continue to dominate the English Premier League after beating East Grinstead 2-0. They're still two points clear at the top of the table.

Not the same story for Canterbury, who still haven't won this season. They lost 2-1 at Brooklands.

In the Conference East, Sevenoaks suffered their first defeat of the season. They lost 3-2 against Southgate, who moved to the top of the table.
