    "Coal" is being performed to mark the 30th anniversary of the end of the miners' strike.

    The issue was raised in the Commons this afternoon by the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, Caroline Lucas.

  10. Manston report flawed says failed bidder

    Manston Airport

    The company which wants to reopen Manston as an airport has written to Thanet District Council, criticising a report which said the project would be unviable.

    Riveroak Investment Corporation says the study, by AviaSolutions, failed to consider any of the information it provided, underestimates the future demand for cargo flights and doesn't take into account the investment Riveroak intends to make in the site.

    Riveroak says it will produce a more detailed response soon, but in the meantime is asking the council not to alter its local plan, based on the report.

  13. Suspected migrants escape from lorry

    Kent Police has released this statement about the suspected migrants seen getting out of a lorry in Kent.

  17. 107 unregistered children remain in the camp

    Calais Police believe there are still 107 children in the jungle who haven't been registered. They will be offered places in reception centres. 

    The adults left will also be given a last chance to go to centres. If they refuse, they could be arrested. 

    Another 40 children are being taken to the UK today.

  19. Dangerous diet pills still on sale

    A BBC investigation has discovered that lethal diet pills are being sold on the so called dark web.

    The tablets containing Dinitrophenal or 'DNP' have been linked to a series of deaths in the UK, and Kent Trading Standards have warned that they're dangerous and shouldn't be taken.

    Now there are calls for tougher prison sentences for those who sell the pills.
