  5. Shock footage: 50mph lorry crash

    Shocking pictures have been released of the moment a lorry driver crushed a car by driving into it at 50mph - leaving its driver with serious, life changing injuries.

    Vygantas Stanulis, who's 55 and from Lithuania, failed to realise traffic ahead had stopped, on the A2 near Canterbury in January. 

    The impact left the driver of the Ford Fiesta with a fractured skull and multiple other injuries.

    Stanulis has been jailed for 12 months for causing injury by dangerous driving.

  6. Arthur Simpson-Kent given life sentence

    The partner of former EastEnders actress Sian Blake has been given a whole life tariff for killing her and their two children at their Erith home.

    Arthur Simpson-Kent stabbed Ms Blake to death along with their sons Zachary, eight, and Anon, four in their Kent home.

    The Old Bailey heard he killed them when he learnt Ms Blake was planning to leave him and take their sons away.

  7. 'We need a second runway at Gatwick regardless of what happens at Heathrow'

    The boss of Gatwick Airport says he'll continue to push for a second runway, whatever the Government's decision on expanding airport capacity.

  8. London Mayor: Build additional runway at Gatwick

    The Mayor of London has made a last-ditch plea to Theresa May urging her to build an extra runway at Gatwick airport rather than Heathrow. 

    In a letter to the Prime Minister, Sadiq Khan claimed expanding Gatwick was "the only option that can actually be delivered."

    In her keynote address to the Tory Party conference in Birmingham, Mrs May confirmed that the Government would "shortly announce" which project would get the go-ahead.

    The fight to re-open Manston Airport may have been dealt a fatal blow tonight -- after an independent report by aviation experts concluded it would be "very unlikely to be financially viable". 

    The UKIP leader of Thanet Council, who came to power having pledged to save the airport, says it's now time to accept it's "unlikely to have a glorious future". 

    But pro-airport campaigners say they'll continue to fight plans to redevelop the site for commercial use and housing.
