Robert Appleby was finally given a six-year prison sentence in February. 

But a colleague who reported concerns six years previously says he believes the authorities at Herne Bay High School failed to take sufficient action -- and now regrets not going straight to the police.

George Digweed, the clay pigeon shooter from Sussex, has spoken about the moment he and his wife were attacked in their home by a man who later murdered a pensioner during a robbery.

Mark Love was jailed for life yesterday for killing Roy Blackman as he tried to steal thousands of pounds from his home in March. 

Mr Digweed and his wife were attacked by Love just weeks before.

One in five of Britain's property millionaires lives in the South East

More than 40,000 new property millionaires have been created across Britain this year so far, amid rising house prices, according to Zoopla. 

One-in-five of Britain's property millionaires lives in the South East and we have more than 145,000 of them. 

Sevenoaks alone has 150 streets where homes are worth an average of more than £1m.

Though I have to point out - despite the image below - Hugh Hefner isn't one of the wealthy homeowners living in Sevenoaks.

More than £24m to fix Canterbury Cathedral's leaky roof

Canterbury Cathedral is to receive £13.6m from the Heritage Lottery Fund for their restoration project.

An extra £10.9m will be added to the pot, raised by the Canterbury Cathedral Trust.

Over the next five years the Cathedral will see things like the leaking roof above the Cathedral Nave replaced and, subject to planning permission, visitors to the Cathedral will be greeted at a new Welcome Centre.

Rain warnings have been issued for tomorrow.  

Showers will become more frequent later tonight with spells of more persistent showery rain developing through Saturday morning. 

There is some good news though - the rain will become less heavy towards evening before clearing.

Speed limit goes up on A20

The 70mph speed limit on the A20 into Dover has been reinstated, Highways England has announced.

The speed limit on part of the dual carriageway was reduced to 40mph in April. 

From now on the speed limit will vary - with it dropping back down to 40mph during Dover TAP, which limits the number of vehicles through the town when the port is busy.

The Government has been accused of blatantly ignoring safety concerns over proposals to remove hard shoulders from parts of the M23 and M25.  

Concerns for Ebbsfleet's garden city

Details of what the new garden city in Ebbsfleet will look like have been revealed.

It will contain up to 15,000 new homes, seven parks, dedicated bus routes and a city centre built around the international railway station. 

The Liberal Democrat spokesman for Thanet, Russ Timpson, told BBC Radio Kent he's concerned about the plans.

Families of Camber Sands victims considering legal action

The families of five men who died at Camber Sands say they have not ruled out taking legal action. 

Kenugen Saththiyanathan, Kobikanthan Saththiyanathan, Nitharsan Ravi, Inthushan Sriskantharaja and Gurushanth Srithavarajah from London got into difficulties in the water in August. 

At a meeting last night a family spokesperson said they want to do whatever they can to stop anyone else suffering the same loss.

Joel Osei was arrested earlier this year when police seized drugs with a street value of more than £2,000.

Police appeal for witnesses after motorcyclist dies in crash

Officers investigating a fatal collision in Dartford are appealing for witnesses to come forward. 

The accident happened just before 17:00 BST yesterday afternoon.

It involved a dark coloured Vauxhall insignia and a blue Yamaha motorcycle. The motorcyclist died at the scene and a female motorcycle passenger was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
