  2. Dover seige: Police operation continues

    Armed police are in an ongoing stand off with a armed man in Dover tonight. They were called to a building on Gordon Road in Whitfield at around 16:00 BST.

    Officers are concerned with the welfare of the man who is inside the office - there isn't thought to be anyone else inside the building.

  5. Seige latest: Staff allowed to leave

    Staff at Viking Recruitment - next door to the solicitors in Whitfield - are now being allowed home, witnesses have told the BBC.

    They are leaving under police cover.

    Kent Police have told me there's "no wider threat to the community" and they are "concerned for the welfare of one individual".

  8. Siege latest: Staff held in neighbouring building

    This was the scene a short time ago at Viking Recruitment's office as armed police surrounded neighbouring Mowll and Mowll solicitors.

    Paul Rutterford, who's inside the Viking Recruitment office, said: "Armed police began arriving at the building at around 16:00 BST.

    "I don't have a clear view but there's lots of police activity."

    Officers were called at 16:05 BST to a report of a man with a weapon.  

    Police say they don't think anyone else is in the building.

  10. Police called to reports of a man carrying a weapon

    Police are currently at an office building in Gordon Road in Whitfield after getting reports of a man carrying a weapon.

    The force says it is "concerned for his wellbeing and safety".

    It is not believed that anyone else is in the building.

  11. Woman's body found in pond

    A woman's body has been recovered from a pond in Ashford.

    Kent Police said it had received a report of a woman in the pond at Eureka Park at 15:50 BST.

    Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

  17. Margate Dreamland boss Eddie Kemsley to quit

    The boss of troubled amusement park Dreamland is leaving 14 months after the attraction opened following a £18m restoration.  

    Chief executive Eddie Kemsley, who took up the role in November 2013, is leaving for a new job at a children's visitor attraction in London.

  18. Olympic rower: 'It's a good feeling'

    He's coming home with gold after being victorious with the men's eight rowers who triumphed on Saturday.

    Ashford's Tom Ransley has been reflecting on his achievement. It was a victory made all the sweeter because they narrowly missed out in 2012, picking up a bronze.
