Wressle Oil: What do villagers think?

James Piekos

Reporter, BBC Hull and East Yorkshire

Earlier we told you about plans for an oil well in Wressle.

Egdon Resources - who are behind the plans - say there will be little impact to the area as the oil production well  will only be about the size of a football pitch - and there will be one or two lorries a day leaving the site.

They also say that although it would only generate a couple of jobs working on the site when it was operational - the company would be paying business rates and will be contributing to the local economy and will try to use local contractors and source materials locally where they can.

We've been speaking to people in Brigg to see whether they knew there was oil in North Lincolnshire.

Hornsea windfarm plans go on show

Jen Bateman

BBC East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

The Hornsea One Project which goes on display in Waltham today and Stallingborough tomorrow is huge.

The windfarm will span an area over five-times the size of the city of Hull.

The offshore wind farm will use wind turbines which are 190m tall - larger than the Gherkin building in London.

It's the reason Dong has invested in Grimsby along with two other windfarms.

North East Lincolnshire council chief executive Rob Walsh says they now need to work with colleges and trainers to get local people the jobs needed.
