  3. Council secures funding for sustainable travel

    North East Lincolnshire Council has got more than £440,000 to improve sustainable travel in the borough. 

    The funding will be used for a variety of schemes, including the promotion cycling, an official said.

  8. Public meeting to be held on Hull hostel

    A councillor in the avenues area of Hull has called two public meetings about concerns over a hostel for homeless and vulnerable people 

    Westbourne House has been established nearly a year. When it first opened residents associations, the neighbourhood watch and businesses in the area all raised objections over its location.

    Councillor John Robinson has organised two meetings - one is this evening.

  9. Next of Kin sought after death of man in Scunthorpe

    Humberside Police want to locate any family members of the late Nicholas John Muteham of Scunthorpe.

    Mr Muteham, aged 65, died at his home address in Pinchbeck Avenue on 7 July.  

    The death of Mr Muteham is not being treated as suspicious,

    A woman from Hull got the shock of her life when she discovered a five- foot long snake in her house.

    Leanne Gerrard had only been in her new home two weeks when it appeared from behind her bathtub and made its way down the stairs. 

    She's not seen it since but was afraid it was venomous.

  12. Great Yorkshire Show: Animal disqualified in udder tampering probe

    A dairy cattle exhibitor has been disqualified from the Great Yorkshire Show after an animal was tampered with, organisers have said.

    The Yorkshire Agricultural Society confirmed a "substance" was used on the cow's udders, contravening show rules.

    Chief Executive Nigel Pulling said the competitor's animal had been banned with immediate effect.

  15. New Scunthorpe stadium and homes given go-ahead

    A development which will create a new football stadium for Scunthorpe United and thousands of new homes has been given the go ahead. 

    The Lincolnshire Lakes development is thought to be the biggest residential led regeneration scheme in the north.

  16. Grimsby Town friendly match cancelled

    Grimsby Town have tweeted that their pre-season match against Rotherham United next Wednesday has been cancelled.

    A spokesperson said, "Rotherham United have requested to call off the encounter with the Mariners due to a number of injuries sustained by members of the first team squad, during the club’s pre-season tour of Poland."

  17. Plans to create new habitats in East Yorkshire

    A drop-in meeting is being held in the Holderness area today to provide information about plans for a habitat creation scheme.

    The Environment Agency and Associated British Ports (ABP) will be answering questions about the Welwick and Skeffling project today at Skeffling village hall.

    They want to replace wildlife habitats lost due to flood risk management schemes around the Humber.
