  3. Psychiatrist calls for more investment in community mental health services

    A leading psychiatrist in the East Riding says too many people are being sent to prison when they should be treated in hospital.

    Sally Foster is the clinical director of the Humber Centre. She's calling for more investment in community mental health services.

  4. Open topper offer more for booming Bridlington

    The Bridlington to Flamborough open topper route is going to be extended this year because tourism business is booming.

    EYMS say the Dad's Army film and the opening of new East Riding Leisure facilities are bringing more tourists in.

    There have been 24 thefts from vehicles in Hull in the past two weeks.

    In most cases people had left valuables on display.

  8. Load of rubbish had been dumped on country road

    This load of fencing and boxes was found dumped on a country road in Gardham, near Cherry Burton.

    Most of it belonged to Julian Johnson, of Annandale Road in Kirk Ella.

    He's been ordered to pay £483 after hiring a man to take away rubbish from his home.

    The council is warning residents to make sure they get rid of their waste properly or they could face £5,000.

  9. Advice to caravan holiday fans

    If you’re planning a caravan break be sure you know what you're booking. 

    Last month Humberside Police received nine reports of people losing money after being conned into booking caravan holidays that didn’t exist.

    More than £64,000 was lost this way by would-be holiday makers from this region last year.

  16. Watch: Hull FC in good shape for Magic weekend

    Hull FC head into their third derby game against Hull Kingston Rovers with a clean bill of health. 

    The match up is part of the Magic weekend Rugby League spectacle at St James' Park in Newcastle. 

    The Black and Whites have frank Pritchard available after a one match suspension and both Carlos Tuimavave and Steve Michaels have come through this week's tough training schedule. 

    Head coach Lee Radford says the result will prove whether or not he's picked the correct 17 for the game.

  17. Does Bridlington need a Blue Flag?

    That's the question I'm asking today after the town's North Beach was stripped of its Blue Flag award. 

    And that's in spite of Yorkshire Water spending more than £40 million to improve water quality in the area.

  19. Weather: Staying dry and bright for most

    We will continue to see a few bright spells across the region and it will remain dry for most this afternoon, with a better chance of seeing sunny spells.

    However, rain will spread from the west later, light to moderate south westerly winds, and highs of around 18C (64F).
