  2. Headlines this evening: A murder suspect is found dead; patients warned to use alternatives to A&E

    Here's a round up of tonight's main stories from the Hull and East Yorkshire newsroom:

    • A man who police had identified as a suspect in a murder investigation in Hull has been found dead
    • It's understood around 80 jobs will be lost at Associated British Ports
    • Patients are being asked to think twice before going to the emergency department at Hull Royal Infirmary
  3. Forecast for this evening: Rain and strong winds

    Rain will affect most parts during the evening, becoming heavy at times, before clearing through the early hours. 

    Further outbreaks of rain may return from the west towards dawn. 

    Winds will be strong at first, gradually easing overnight.

  4. 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's death

    Did you know that some of the gardens of East Yorkshire's stately homes were designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown?

    Burton Constable Hall, Sledmere House and Brocklesby Park were all his creations.

    This year is the 300th anniversary of his birth but today is the anniversary of his death.

  5. A woman was threatened at knifepoint during a robbery in Withernsea

    Do you know who this is?

    Humberside Police have released this CCTV image following a robbery at a newsagent on Queens Street in Withernsea on Wednesday night.  

    He threatened a woman working there with a knife and stole money from the till.

    Detectives are appealing for witnesses and want to speak to anyone who can help identify the man from this image.

  6. Sport: Hull KR's Adam Walker is left out of Sunday's squad

    Hull Kingston Rovers haven't named Adam Walker in their 19 man squad to face Castleford Tigers on Sunday. 

    The prop was charged on January 27th by West Yorkshire Police with two offences of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.

    The club confirmed that they would support Walker and that he would be available for selection but have left him out this time.

  7. Tonight's headlines: Dozens of ABP jobs at risk; Police to get more of our council tax money

    The top stories from the Hull and East Yorkshire newsroom this evening include:

    • Around 80 jobs are understood to be at risk at the Humber ports, linked to the closure of old fashioned power stations.
    • The amount of money which Humberside Police gets from our council tax is set to increase.
    • Hospital managers admit they're struggling to cope with the number of patients going to Hull's A&E department.
  8. Police to get more of our council tax money

    The Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Grove's proposal to increase the amount Humberside Police get from out council tax has been approved.

    The rise of 1.99% amounts to an extra £3 per household.

  9. The search continues for a missing man at Hull Marina

    A coast guard helicopter has been seen hovering over Hull Marina today.

    They're still looking for a man believed to be in his late 20's.

    He was last seen entering the water around there just after midnight yesterday.

  10. Humber Bridge farmers' market cancelled

    You'll have to do your shopping somewhere else this weekend.

    The Humber Bridge Farmers' Market on Sunday has been cancelled due to the strong winds that are forecast.

  11. Hospital admissions rise: Public urged to use alternatives

    Think twice before going to A&E at Hull Royal Infirmary today. 

    The hospital says they've seen a big rise admissions over the past few days.

    They're asking patients to make use of alternatives like walk-in centres.

  12. Dad's Army boost to local economy

    Its only just been released but its hoped the new Dad's Army film will attract loads of visitors to the area.

    Screen Yorkshire, which promotes film-making in the region, says it could be worth millions to the local economy. 

    Welcome to Yorkshire says the town has plans for a film trail and bus tour and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council says businesses need to play their part to capitalise on the film too.

    It's already had premieres in London and in Bridlington. The critics have given it mixed reviews, but people at The Spa on Wednesday seemed to love it.
