  9. McDonald's stabbing 'shocking and vicious'

    Police have spoken out over a "shocking and vicious attack" which saw a delivery driver stabbed on a car park when he challenged a group of teenagers.

    West Midlands Police said the stabbing happened on 27 January at the McDonald's in Yardley Wood, Birmingham after the man confronted the gang for messing about and kicking his car.

    They say when he tried to run to safety, he was stabbed in the arm, narrowly missing a major blood vessel.

    Last week, a 17-year-old man from Rubery was jailed for four and a half years after pleading guilty to wounding with intent at Birmingham Crown Court.

    Det Con Matt Standen said after the sentencing: "The level of violence used is as extreme as it is worrying, in my mind the offender had no regard for the victim’s life."

  12. Traffic starting to flow again after M5 crash

    Highways England says the hard shoulder has opened on the M5 at Worcester to take traffic past a crash between junctions seven and six.

    A man and a woman were taken to hospital at 13:48 after their cars and a van collided.

    Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

    No-one else was hurt, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

  14. More than 100 to take part in charity run

    More than 100 people have signed up to take part in a charity run in Hereford on Sunday.

    The city is hosting its first ever March for Men on Sunday, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

    People of any age or gender can complete up to four laps of the race course with the aim of improving testing and treatments.

  15. Boy, 4, rescued from river 'had been reported missing'

    Police have confirmed a four-year-old boy who had to be rescued from a river had been reported missing beforehand.

    Emergency services were called to the River Wye in Hereford yesterday morning to reports of someone in the water.

    The boy was airlifted to Hereford Hospital where West Mercia Police says he remains in a critical but stable condition.

    The force adds that it is not treating this as a criminal investigation "at this time".

  16. Oscar Saxelby-Lee: 'Three donors found' for transplant

    The mother of a boy with leukaemia says he will be able to have a transplant "very soon" as three donors have been matched for a stem cell transplant.

    Five-year-old Oscar Saxelby-Lee, from Worcester, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia over Christmas.

    Thousands joined a register to try and find him a match for the transplant, which his family's been told he needs within three months of chemotherapy otherwise his chances of survival will "severely diminish".

    Last week, his mother Olivia said he had responded well to treatment and was free of leukaemia blast cells.

    Today, she posted on Facebook that he had been matched with three donors, adding she was "over the moon" to move to the next step in treatment.
