  5. Fire at flats now extinguished

The fire at a block of flats in Kidderminster is now out but emergency services remain at the scene.

Ten people had to be evacuated from Coniston House on Hurcott Road after the fire broke out in the seventh floor.

    Fire engine at flats

The fire service said the fire was confined to the flat in which it started and did not spread elsewhere into the building.

  6. Inconsiderate drivers delaying fire engines

Fire engines are unable to get off the Droitwich fire station forecourt, because inconsiderate drivers are blocking the road, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service has said.

The fire station has warning lights outside it, similar to those seen at level crossings, but it said some drivers were ignoring them, slowing down response-times.

    Car outside fire station

The fire service also said it was concerned there could be an accident involving one of its appliances, with more than 900 call outs from the station every year.

Station Commander Gareth Clarke warned: "Our fire appliances have cameras on board so can capture footage of cars which neglect to stop at the lights and that could be passed to the police."

  8. Hospital to get cash from student accommodation developer

Hereford's County hospital will receive £41,000 from developers building a new block of flats for students in the city.

The Wye Valley NHS Trust said it expected an increase in demand as a result of the 178-bed block being built, close to the train station.

Hospital bosses estimated the extra students would lead to 337 extra acute admissions a year.

The new student block will serve both the Hereford College of Arts and the new university.

    Lucie Plant

    BBC Hereford and Worcester

Dogs have visited the University of Worcester to help stressed out students.

Every fortnight, Worcestershire charity Pets as Therapy bring dogs to drop-in sessions, for those who need some time out - to talk about things on their mind.

Student Community Wellbeing Service Manager Lucy Sandwell says many students return to university after the holidays feeling anxious and need to talk.
