  4. Railway arches redevelopment 'long-held ambition'

    Is this how things will look at Worcester's railway arches? Details have emerged of a plan to regenerate the site for creative work spaces and festivals.

    A sum of £3m towards the project has been awarded by the government.

    The site's transformation into a hub for artist workshops and studios is a long-held ambition for the city, according to the local council's deputy leader Adrian Gregson who says 67 jobs could be created as a result.

    The scheme will also link Foregate Street railway station to the river, and Mr Gregson has promised to work with businesses already there.

    He said it was important the government was "recognising the importance of cultural and creative industries as an economic driver".

  5. Traditional wassailing event planned for orchard

    Dozens of people are set to take part in a traditional wassail at Queenswood Country Park near Leominster this evening.

    The ancient custom of visiting orchards and making noise is thought to have originated with the idea that scaring bad spirits would ensure a bumper apple harvest.

  6. Man appears in court charged with Droitwich murder

    BBC Hereford and Worcester

    A man has appeared at Birmingham Crown Court today charged with murdering a woman in Droitwich.

    Martin Saberi, 53, from Wallington in Surrey, is yet to enter a plea and is due to reappear at the same court on 1 March.

    The body of 51-year-old Amy Griffiths was found at her home in Chalverton Court on 14 January.

  7. Your photos: Snow falls across counties

    The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow in Staffordshire, and suggested there could be some travel disruption later.

    There's already been white stuff in Shropshire and Herefordshire and the BBC Weather Watchers have been sharing their photos.

    These were taken at Oswestry and Broome in Shropshire, and Lyonshall in Herefordshire.

  8. Hill snow warning issued

    Hill snow in the north of Staffordshire could cause travel disruption later today, the Met Office is warning.

    The yellow warning for snow comes into effect at 13:00 and remains in place until midnight.

    The Met Office says to expect some snow to also fall in Shropshire and Herefordshire.

  9. 'Man arrested on motorway had crossbow and baseball bat'

    A man wanted by police has been arrested on the M5, Herefordshire officers say.

    According to a tweet, a crossbow, baseball bat and cannabis were found in the vehicle.

    He was arrested on suspicion of offences relating to the possession of those items.

  10. Worcester wins share of culture fund

    Worcester is one of five areas in England that will benefit from a new £20m Cultural Development Fund.

    It's been awarded £3m to regenerate railway arches into creative workspaces and support a festivals programme.

    Regions could bid for up to £7m for local projects.

    Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright said the fund would help people build careers in the arts and culture locally but "also boost wider investment and diversify the creative economy".
