  9. Drugs gang jailed

    Members of a drugs gang arrested as part of an operation into the supply of Class A drugs have been jailed for between three and six years.

    They were arrested after raids on properties in Malvern and Birmingham in December 2015 when "significant quantities" of Class A drugs, including heroin and crack cocaine, were seized, West Mercia Police said.

    The four admitted conspiring to supply Class A drugs and were sentenced yesterday at Birmingham Crown Court.

    They received the following sentences:

    • Shane Jonas, 20, of Beaconview Road, West Bromwich was sentenced to five years and seven months
    • Kiyan Jones, 19, of Shenstone Road, Edgbaston was sentenced to six years and nine months in a young offenders institution
    • Elliot Whittock, 21, of Kendrick Grove, Birmingham, was sentenced to five years and three months
    • Neil Bozward, 45, of Duke of Edinburgh Way, Malvern, was sentenced to three years and five months. In a separate case Bozward was sentenced this week for child prostitution offences at Stafford Crown Court
  10. Replacement bus service to start this weekend

    Some changes to the rail network to be aware of from this weekend and every weekend until Sunday 16 July.

    Replacement bus services will operate on the route between Hereford and Shrewsbury due to engineering works.

  12. Joe Clarke called up to England Lions squad

    Worcestershire County Cricket Club's Joe Clarke has been called up to the England Lions squad for next week's game against South Africa at New Road.

    Clarke made a century in each innings of this week's Championship win over Kent.

    He will be allowed to play the first two days of Worcestershire's four-day game at Durham before heading back to Worcester to join up with the Lions squad.

  16. Sixty jobs could go in Kidderminster carpet firm move

    Sixty jobs could be lost at a Kidderminster carpet firm after the company relocated manufacturing to two other sites.

    Staff at Victoria Carpets were told this morning how the firm is expected to cut the jobs, with a letter to the workers calling it "a strategic decision".

    A consultation process has started.

    It is another blow for the Kidderminster carpet industry - earlier this month BBC Hereford & Worcester revealed how Brintons, which is also based in the town, confirmed the loss of 60 jobs.
