  8. Hereford Tesco will no longer be 24-hour store

    Tesco's Hereford Abbotsmead Superstore will stop opening around the clock.

    Tesco is ending 24-hour shopping at 76 of its stores - around one in five of those currently open all day.

    The company says the growth of online shopping means that certain shops have had few customers during the night.

    Normal night time activities - such as refilling shelves - will continue in the supermarkets, with Tesco saying the impact on employees will be "minimal".

  11. Bin bag restriction to clean up Worcester City Centre

    Worcester City Council could restrict when bags of waste can be left outside shops and businesses.

    The council's cabinet will be asked on 9 February to consult on whether trade waste should only be left out for collection between 06:00 and 09:30.

    It's aimed at ensuring the city centre is free of trade waste during prime shopping hours and in the evening, when there are increasing numbers of people visiting bars and restaurants.

  12. Neonatal nurse retires after 30 years - and 7,000 babies

    A Hereford nurse, who's overseen specialist care for more than 7,000 babies, is calling it a day after 30 years.Neonatal manager Carol Lamputt originally joined as a staff nurse on the Christopher Robin Ward before joining the Special Care Baby Unit.She's described the role as very rewarding and says survival rates for premature babies have greatly increased during her time thanks to technology, knowledge and neonatal skills.

  13. Anti-poaching fund in memory of Roger Gower

    The family of a former Malvern College student killed in Tanzania has set up a fund in his memory that will contribute towards anti-poaching efforts there. 

    Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the death of Roger Gower, whose helicopter was shot down by poachers last week. 

     The 37-year-old was a pupil at the Worcestershire school in the early 90s and was working for a conservation fund in the African country.

  14. Mott the Hoople fans welcome at funeral of founder Dale Griffin

    Mott the Hoople

    Fans of Mott the Hoople will be welcomed at the funeral of drummer and founder member Dale Griffin in Usk later this month. 

    Dale, who was known as Buffin, was born in Ross and launched the glam rock band with his school friends Pete Overend Watts and Mick Ralphs from Stoke Lacy. 

    He also produced up to 2000 sessions for John Peel in the late 70s and 80s. His funeral will take place at St Mary's Church in Usk on Mon Feb 15th 14:00 GMT

  15. Hereford's River Carnival to return

    Hereford's River Carnival will be back this year after a grant of £3,000 from the city council. 

    The event, on 29 and 30 April, includes a parade of floats and boats and will also be the opening showcase for the Wye Valley River Festival.

    Last year, more than 7,000 people, a 10th of the city's population, attended the event and organisers are hoping for a bigger turn out in 2016.
