  10. Fire officers could take on police jobs in Dorset

Fire officers in Dorset would be sent to deal with non-injury traffic accidents and help search for missing people under plans aimed at saving hundreds hours of police time.

Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill said the tasks were ideally suited to the fire service which could also deal with people who have collapsed in their home.

    Police and fire service

Fire officers are already working with police and the ambulance service in the north of the county which involves being the first to respond to medical emergencies.

Mr Underhill said talks with the fire service were taking place but handing over some duties would come at a financial cost, although overall it should result in a saving of police time.
