    It'll be mostly dry this evening, although we will see thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving south-eastwards tonight, with strengthening winds.

  4. Eastleigh sign former Gillingham and Watford striker

    Severe accident: A35 Dorset both ways

    A35 Dorset - A35 closed and very slow traffic in both directions between the A35 junction in Bere Regis and the B3075 Chitten Hill junction in Morden, because of an accident involving three vehicles.

  7. Fire closes main Southampton road

    The scene in Shirley, Southampton.

    Shirley High Street in Southampton has been closed by a building fire, which was reported to police at 16.34 GMT.

    The police have said the small fire at Hire-It tool hire is now out, but bus companies and other road users are reporting delays while the road remains closed.

    A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said there was a fire in a portable generator and cylinders were removed from the scene to cool down as a safety precaution.

  8. Hovertravel cancellations until March

    A new one-craft timetable has been brought in by Hovertravel until March, cancelling 14 daily crossings between Ryde and Southsea.

    The firm says problems with its two new craft, Solent Flyer and Island Flyer, are taking a long time to resolve, and both craft require "remedial and upgrade work".

    The new timetable will be operated by an older craft, Freedom 90, while a fourth vessel, Island Express, is laid up for repairs.

  9. Afobe back for Cherries

    AFC Bournemouth will be able to call upon striker Benik Afobe once again, after receiving international clearance from his country.

    Afobe missed the recent games against Arsenal and Millwall, after choosing not to play at the Africa Cup of Nations this month.

    His country DR Congo has now cleared that decision, leaving him available to feature for the Cherries at Hull on Saturday.

    A second boy has been convicted of arson following a fire at St Joseph's Catholic Church in South Ham, Basingstoke, in July.

  11. Gosport Borough FC wins sponsor

    Troubled Gosport Borough Football Club has announced much-needed financial backing.

    The local branch of Covers Timber and Builders Merchants has agreed a two-year deal to become a main sponsor of the National League South outfit.

    Last week the club issued a statement saying it expected that the latest winding up petition against the club would be dismissed at the High Court on 30 January.

    Speaking last week, the General Secretary of Aslef was highly critical of the way Southern have handled the dispute.

  13. Five charged with supplying drugs after police operation

    Four men and a woman have been charged with supplying cocaine and heroin after a police operation. 

    Two men, aged 26 and 27 from Bournemouth, and two men, aged 36 and 38 from Shaftesbury, as well as a 40-year-old woman from Runcorn in Cheshire, were arrested in December.

    Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court

    They are due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

    A 31-year-old woman, also from Runcorn, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries until 31 January.
