  2. Appeal after Newport crash

    Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Newport on the Isle of Wight yesterday. A blue BMW and a silver Toyota collided in Blacklands Lane at about 11:30 and the BMW driver, a 42-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.

    Four year ago, Peter Cornhill was a dad-of two, and a Hamsphire firefighter. While still a parent and a Hampshire firefighter, Peter is now a woman, called Katie. 

    She joined the BBC's Sarah Walker to share her story.

  4. Travellers ordered to leave tax office car park

    Portsmouth City Council has successfully applied to evict a group of travellers from the car park of the city's tax office, Lynx House.

    The eviction order has been granted for 18 caravans on the land off Northern Road, which backs on to King George Playing Fields.

  5. Isle of Wight Donkey Santuary says farewell to Whiskers

    Sad news from the Isle of Wight - the oldest donkey at the island's donkey sanctuary has died.

    Whiskers, who was 48 and the most recognisable and popular donkey at the charity's Ventnor complex, was put to sleep after suffering from a bout of colic. 

    Staff say it's been a tough few months as Whiskers is the third elderly animal they have lost following the recent deaths of Polly and Dazzle.

  6. Saints aim for EFL Cup last four

    Arsenal v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Southampton travel to Arsenal this evening in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

    Midfielder Sofiane Boufal is available after a knock as is Steven Davis (illness). Forward Josh Sims, 19, is likely to be rested after making his senior debut in Sunday's 1-0 league win over Everton.

  9. Christmas sale lands House of Fraser with £40,000 fine

    The High Street retailer House of Fraser has been fined £40,000 for misleading customers over sale deals for Christmas decorations.

    The department store giant was prosecuted following an investigation by south Wales trading standards officers.

    Torfaen council teams visited House of Fraser shops in Cwmbran, Cardiff and Bournemouth

    The company said it regretted not meeting its "own high standards".

  10. Close-up with Southampton's new £85m development

    With the news earlier that a date has been set for the opening of Southampton's new £85m WestQuay Watermark development, we went down to take a look at the site.

    The development overlooks the city's medieval town walls and includes a new plaza which is expected to play host to a number of events.

  11. Ambulance crew 'detective work' saved Kurdish family

    A call handler has been talking about a memorable incident in the early hours of Monday. 

    A 999 call was made to the team at about 01:00 and the caller spoke very little English.

    Call operators were able to find out they were on the A34 near Winchester and two Kurdish adults and two young children were in the back of a lorry.

    An ambulance had to drive up and down the road until they could hear the sirens coming through on the phone as the caller kept saying "can't breathe".

    It took one hour to find them and when ambulance crews arrived they took the family to hospital as they had gone 20 hours without food or water. 

  12. Travel: Lorry fire closes motorway

    The problems on the M3 are being caused by a crash and a lorry fire.

    All southbound lanes have been closed between junction 6 for the A339 (Basingstoke) and junction 7 for the A30 (Dummer).

    Delays are back to junction 5 for the A287 (Hook).

  13. Dorset and London firms fined for loan spam texts

    Two firms responsible for millions of spam texts offering easy access to loans have been fined. 

    The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) found Bournemouth-based Silver City Tech and Oracle Insurance Brokers, in London, did not have the consent of the people the messages were sent to. 

    Silver City Tech was responsible for more than three million in a month. 

    Silver City Tech and Oracle Insurance Brokers were fined £100,000 and £30,000 respectively.
