Managing type 1 diabetes is 'essentially my day job'

Langley "stripped" victim of her livelihood

One of serial fraudster Zac Langley's victims told the BBC after his sentencing that he had "stripped her of her livelihood".

Clare Cooper, 34, and her mother Muriel Cooper were conned out of more than £100,000 after Langley persuaded them to buy two Range Rovers and give him a loan for a property purchase.

Mrs Cooper said she was more upset for the distress Langley had caused her 60-year-old mother, who had provided much of the cash lost.

She said: "He's taken everything. He came into our lives, he manipulated us".

Mrs Cooper said Langley's "web of lies" had meant her mother had been forced to return to work after previously retiring to make up the costs she had loaned him.

Men arrested for 'attempted murder' of soldier

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault in Aldershot.

The victim, a 26-year-old soldier, was found with a serious injury at Mons Barracks, Princes Avenue, just after 06:15 GMT on Saturday.

The men aged 22 and 19 arrested in relation to the attack have both been bailed until January.

The victim remains in hospital.

Police said they were investigating how the men came to be in the barracks.

Detectives said there was no evidence to suggest any link between the assault and the deaths of two teenage athletes who were struck by a car in Aldershot while out training last week.

A previous version of this story, based on agency copy, incorrectly stated that the arrested men were soldiers.

Mobile phone clampdown
