Organisers of Sunday's Elton John concert - which saw traffic problems cause some people to be late and others to miss the show - said they "worked closely with the various agencies, to plan how people would arrive and leave the site".

Westpoint Exeter said: "Unfortunately, with the adverse weather, exacerbated by unforeseen difficulties on the M5, reported on the day by the Highways Agency, some customers experienced delays in reaching the venue. Such factors are unfortunately beyond the control of the event organisers".
It added that information leaflet sent to all ticket-holders "made clear" they "should allow ample time to arrive at the venue and make their way to their seats".
