  2. Royal Mail to install parcel postbox in Nottingham

    Nottingham has been selected to host one of the UK's first-ever parcel postboxes.

    Royal Mail said it will install 1,400 of the boxes areound the country over a six-month period starting in August.

    Customers will be able to post parcels in the same way that they currently post a letter, provided that postage has been pre-paid using Royal Mail's own online labelling service.

    Existing letter postboxes were introduced in the 1850s and Royal Mail said the new move represented the first major change in the system since then.

  3. Cricket: First class cricket returns to Isle of Wight

    Nottinghamshire are making cricket history on the Isle of Wight.

    They are playing Hampshire in the County Championship returning first class cricket to the island for the first time since 1962.

    The four-day match gets under way soon and is the first to be played at the Newclose Cricket Club.

    Notts will be looking for their first win of the season - so far they've drawn one and lost two.

  5. Man left with dislocated jaw after bottle assault

    A man has suffered a fractured cheekbone and dislocated jaw after being hit with a bottle in Newark.

    Police said the serious assault happened outside The Barge pub, in The Wharf, at about 18:15 last Monday.

    A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm but police have said they want to speak to a second man about what happened.

    They are appealing for anyone with information about what happened to come forward.

  7. Investigation into dumping of dangerous asbestos

    Asbestos found dumped in Nottinghamshire on Friday was the most dangerous kind of the material, it has been revealed.

    It was discovered on the B6034 Ollerton Road between Worksop and Budby - the road remains closed while it is safely cleared.

    Bassetlaw District Council has said it'll be doing all it can to find and prosecute those responsible.

  8. Call for traffic-free cycleway

    More than 150 cyclists rode out to show support for a proposed cycle route between Derby and Baslow at the weekend.

    Campaigners are calling on Derbyshire County Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership to support their bid for the off-road pathway which would cost an estimated £10m.

    Derek Latham, from the Derwent Valley Trust, said: "What we want next is to get the feasibility study to be able to design it in detail and agree it with the owners.

    "Then we're in a very clear position to make a bid to government for the money and we will better know then how much it's going to cost exactly."

  9. Nottingham congestion 'not reduced' by parking levy

    The leader of Nottingham City Council has admitted the controversial Workplace Parking Levy hasn't significantly reduced congestion.

    The city is the only one in the UK to charge companies for parking spaces. Firms with more than ten spaces pay £415 per year per parking space.

    The levy has generated more than £50m, which has been reinvested in public transport projects in the city.

    Jon Collins, who steps down as council leader today, insists the levy has helped to keep the volume of traffic "steady" something he claims is "unlike every other big city".

    He said it's also helped to reduce air pollution.

    Other cities around the country have considered introducing a similar scheme including in Leicester.

  10. Temporary bridge installed on High Peak Trail

    A temporary bridge has been put up in Brassington to replace one demolished when a lorry crashed into it.

    A section of the High Peak Trail has been closed since the crash. It will remain closed until some point this coming weekend while work is completed.

  12. Police search for man wearing duvet

    Police are looking for this man seen wearing a duvet after cash and a phone were stolen from a person in Nottingham.

    It happened just after 01:30 on Clumber Street on 26 March.

    One man has been arrested and charged with robbery but police are still keen to speak to the man in the photo.
