  5. Weather: Dry and mild night ahead

    Tonight will be a dry and fairly mild night with some clear spells for a time.

    However, areas of low cloud, mist and fog are likely to become more extensive later in the night with gentle winds.

    Tomorrow morning will be rather cloudy and misty with some early fog in places.

    However, it should brighten-up in places in the afternoon in what will be a very mild day for November.

  6. Man dies following two-car crash

    A 34-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Etwall this morning.

    Stuart Simmonds, of Ashbourne, was pronounced dead at the scene after the smash at about 05:50 at the junction of Heage Lane and Radbourne Lane, Etwall.

    Police, fire and ambulance services all attended.

  7. Nottingham Homebase to close

    Homebase in Nottingham is to close in a month.

    The Queen's Drive shop was not on the original list of stores that were earmarked for closure but the firm revealed today that it is to go.

    The DIY store, recently voted the worst online retailer in the UK, said it is keeping its other stores in the East Midlands.

  8. Wheel of Light ready to go

    The 110ft ferris wheel in Jubilee Square is ready for its opening day.

    The Wheel of Light opens at noon on Friday and will be in Jubilee Square until 7 January, open every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

  9. No injuries in large barn fire

    A fire at a horse riding school in Duckmanton has badly damaged a barn containing hay bales, but no horses or staff were injured.

    Firefighters were called to attend the blaze at Poplar Farm Riding School at 13:18 today.

    A spokesman for the riding school said: "Only the barn itself has been damaged, where the hay bales are kept.

    "Everyone's fine, no people or horses were injured."

    Emergency services attended the scene after getting a call just before 06:00 this morning.
