  5. Pair jailed for city centre nuisance behaviour

    A man and a woman have been jailed for nuisance behaviour in Derby city centre.

    James Gyongyosi, 32, received a 20-week sentence for damaging a police van, a public order offence and breaching a city centre ban.

    Jade Oakes, 23, was jailed for 22 weeks for failing to attend court and three charges of assaulting a police officer.

    All the offences happened earlier this week.

    People living near HMP Nottingham have been speaking to the BBC about the number of recent deaths inside.

    Five inmates at the jail have died in the last month. It's believed some of these were suicides and at least one was drug-related.

  8. Man charged with historical child sex offences

    A man from Radcliffe on Trent has been charged with further historical child sex offences.

    Earlier this year Dean Gathercole from Westcliffe Avenue was charged with six counts of indecent assault and two counts of rape.

    He has now been charged with two more counts of indecent assault and one more count of rape.

    All of the charges are alleged to have happened 30 years ago at Amberdale Observation and Assessment Centre in Stapleford.

  9. School to reopen after sickness and diarrhoea outbreak

    Woodville Infant and Junior School in Swadlincote says it will reopen on Monday after being closed today due to an outbreak of sickness and diarrhoea.

    School management ordered a deep clean of surfaces and equipment after at least 50 staff members and pupils fell ill over the last few days.

  10. Man admits injuring pedestrians with car

    A 19-year-old man, who drove a car onto the pavement and hit a group of pedestrians in Leicester, has pleaded guilty to three charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

    Wahid Rob, from Neston Road in Leicester injured several pedestrians on Humberstone Gate in November last year.

    Rob has been sentenced to four years in detention and has been disqualified from driving for two years after his release.

    Bit of a theme emerging today. We've got another breakdown and lane closure on the M1.

    This time it's on the southbound side near junction 29a - looks like it's a lorry. Highways England says the lane should reopen by 17:30.

  13. Men deny manslaughter of Megan Bannister

    Two Leicester men appeared in court in connection with death of 16-year-old Megan Bannister in May.

    Jason Burder and Adam King pleaded not guilty to her manslaughter by gross negligence.

    The pair are accused of supplying the teenager with the Class A drug MDMA and then assaulting her, before neglecting her "life threatening" condition by failing to take steps to summon medical help.

    Miss Bannister's body was found in the back of a car after a crash with a motorbike in Enderby.

    Burder, 28, from Braunstone Avenue and King, 28, from Waltham Avenue made their plea at Leicester Crown Court this afternoon.

    The two men also denied supplying or being concerned in supplying the Class A drug MDMA to Megan. Burder further pleaded not guilty to supplying ecstasy and cocaine to another female person.

    A trial is due to begin on 14 November in Birmingham.

  15. Woman killed in A1 crash

    A woman has died in hospital after being involved in a crash on the A1 in Blyth.

    Police said the 44-year-old, from St Helens in Merseyside, died on Tuesday after her car was involved in a collision with another at about 01:00 on Sunday.
