  3. Woman injured in dog attack

    Four dogs have been seized and another died after a woman was attacked in a country park earlier.

    The 23-year-old was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening after the incident at Vicars Water Country Park in Clipstone this morning.

    Nottinghamshire Police said they had recovered a dog which they believe died as a result of the incident.

    Four others have been seized as part of the investigation.

  5. Police 'can't prosecute every single minor traffic offence'

    A police force is urging people to think twice before sending in dashcam footage from cars or bikes.

    Nottinghamshire Police said due to the rise in popularity of the cameras, it had also seen an increase in the amount of footage sent in.

    "We can't prosecute every offence that comes to light," Dave Keen from the Nottinghamshire Police Federation said.

    "It would be inconceivable for the police to say that they will prosecute every single minor traffic offence brought to their attention."

    Floyd Mayweather's two-year break from boxing gives Conor McGregor a chance of causing an upset in their controversial cross-code fight, Carl Froch has said.

    UFC champion McGregor faces legendary American boxer Mayweather, 40, in Las Vegas on 26 August in a boxing match that could earn both men $100m.

    Nottingham boxer Froch told BBC Sport: "Everyone expects Mayweather to win.

    "But McGregor is 29. He is young, fit, hungry and confident."

    The four-time super-middleweight world champion added: "I know McGregor is not a boxer; he's a cage fighter.

    "But Mayweather could just come unstuck early on and might get caught with something. That's the big concern. It's a fascinating match."

  8. Bosworth Battlefield targeted by illegal metal detectorists

    Bosworth Battlefield, famous for being the place where Richard III was killed, has been targeted by illegal metal detectorists.

    Leicestershire Police has confirmed it recovered property left behind by the illegal searchers last month.

    The battlefield was also found with several holes dug into it.

    The force said the illegal detectorists had possibly removed historical artifacts.

    "Advice was given about ways in which to improve the security of the site," a force spokesperson added.

  9. Three arrested after house searched by police

    Two men and a woman have been arrested after officers from Derbyshire Police found what they believe to be Class A drugs at a house in Ripley.

    A 33-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, both from the area, and an 18-year-old man from Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs after the search on Park Road on 26 July.

    They have been questioned and released while police continue their investigation, a spokesman for the force said.

  12. Keith Vaz: Labour MP's home targeted by thieves

    Thieves have attempted to break into the house of Labour MP Keith Vaz.

    Leicester city councillor Deepak Bajaj said Mr Vaz's home in Leicester was targeted at around 01:00 on Tuesday.

    Mr Bajaj added that the thieves, who were trying to gain access to Mr Vaz's property via a garden, were scared off by neighbours.

  13. Shakespeare: Mahrez has given me 'no problems' despite wanting to leave

    Riyad Mahrez will continue to feature for Leicester despite wanting to leave, Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare has said.
