  3. Stuck on A38 Kingsway this morning?

    If you were stuck in heavy traffic near Kingsway roundabout this morning, then it's because the council was carrying out overnight works which should have been completed by 5:00.

    You'll be pleased to hear there are no other planned works on the A38.

  4. Rams v Brewers tonight

    Derby County and Burton Albion meet at Pride Park this evening in the second "A38 derby". 

    It's the first time Nigel Clough has been back with a side since he was sacked in 2013.

    Derby have no new injuries or suspensions to contend with - while Burton Albion defenders John Brayford and Kyle McFadzean remain out through injury.   

  5. Caravan park will reopen once 'site is made safe'

    The company which owns Haytop Country Park has told residents it's closing the site because the electric and plumbing was becoming dangerous.

    The firm said caravan owners were given 28 days notice to leave after it discovered the problems during planned renovation work.

    Countrywide Park Homes, which recently bought the site, said residents who have paid pitch fees will be compensated.

    It's not known how long it will be closed but the company said it will reopen.

  6. Storm Doris: All you need to know

    WHO? Storm Doris is a low pressure system which is likely to cause disruption on Thursday.

    WHY SHOULD I BE WORRIED? An amber warning for wind is currently valid from 06:00 - 18:00. Amber warnings mean “be prepared”.

    WHERE'S IT GOING TO HIT? The warning currently applies to Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and other parts of the country.

    WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN? Rain is expected on Thursday morning, which will become patchier as the day goes on. Widespread gusts of 50-60mph are expected across the East Midlands between 14:00 and 15:00. Gusts of 70-80mph are possible but more likely over higher ground and in exposed areas. 

    WHAT ARE THE DANGERS? High-sided vehicles should take extra care and widespread disruption to travel networks is likely. Interruptions to power supplies is possible, there could be damage to structures and there is a danger of injury from flying debris.

  7. East Midlands Chamber of Commerce moves premises

    East Midlands Chamber of Commerce is moving its office on Friday and warned there may be disruptions to its services.

    The future of the old site in Chesterfield's Canal Wharf is not yet clear but the Chamber said housing is most likely. 

    The new Commerce House will be in Dunstan Road.

  9. Thief targets grave for second time

    A grave has been targeted by thieves for the second time in three years.

    Relatives visited Nottingham Road cemetery in Chaddesden at about 13:00 on 6 February and noticed a statue similar to the one pictured below had been stolen.

    The family had bought it to replace a bronze statue of the Madonna which had been stolen from the grave in January 2014.

    He told us: "I think the Derby fans now appreciate what we did for them."

  14. Batten down the hatches for Doris

    The storm on Thursday has now been named “Doris” and an amber weather warning has been issued for the East Midlands for damaging winds.

    For a while we could experience gusts of 70-80mph (113-129km/h) which could cause structural damage, interruptions to power supplies and disruption to travel. 

    In addition to the strong winds, a band of heavy rain will also be with us which could convert to snow over higher ground.

  15. Knife crime youth summit at Pride Park

    Derbyshire police held a knife crime youth summit with the city council at Pride Park stadium this morning.

    There was a range of speakers including ex-gang members, the mother of a knife crime victim and an A&E doctor.

  16. Teaching assistant 24 hour vigil continues

    School support staff have been holding a 24 hour vigil outside the council house.

    It began yesterday and will end around noon today and is part of a long-running dispute over changes to teaching assitants' contracts.

  17. Man released on bail after scooter crash

    A man has been released on police bail after a 14-year-old boy died following a scooter crash in South Normanton on Sunday afternoon.

    The teenager was involved in a collsion with a Ford Fusion car on Fordbridge Lane.

    The 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs.    

  18. £1.3m grant for Wirksworth Heritage Centre

    Wirksworth Heritage Centre has received £1.3m lottery funding to develop its new location. 

    The centre recently moved from Crown Yard to St John's Street, hoping to make the history and stories of the town accessible to everyone.
