'FA Cup replays should be scrapped'

Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson said FA Cup replays should be scrapped.

Carson watched from the bench as Derby were knocked out of this year's competition by Leicester in extra-time last night.

Derby had been two minutes away from winning the original tie at Pride Park two weeks ago. 

Carson, who insists he loves the FA Cup, said: "I don't think any of the players on either side last night wanted that fixture."

Vandals poured pink paint over car in driveway

A car parked on a driveway in Lower Pilsley, was damaged when pink paint was poured over the vehicle.

It happened between 19:00 and 21:00 on 27 January while it was parked on Rupert Street.

A poultry farmer in Etwall says he's relieved after DEFRA announced plans to relax its bird flu restrictions. 

Most poultry owners in the UK will be allowed to keep their birds outside again from the end of the month.

Missing teenager last seen in Derby

Kain Smith was last seen on Cotton Lane in Derby last Friday.

The 17-year-old is from the Bridgwater area of Somerset. He is described as, 5ft 8ins tall with short brown curly hair.

He was wearing blue jeans, a khaki green coloured jacket and black boots.  

Kain has links to Somerset and Devon.

Derby City Council announced just over a year ago they would stop funding envoys coming here.

Duo in court over shop robberies

Two men have been charged with conspiracy to rob following four shop robberies in Derby and Erewash. 

Christopher Eyre, 30, of no fixed address and John Litchfield, 34, of Edmund Road in Spondon are due before magistrates later today.

Another two men were also arrested in connection with the crimes, but have been released on bail.

Rolls Royce sign new deal with Singapore Airlines

Derby based Rolls Royce has won an order that's worth more than £1.35bn. 

The company's signed a deal with Singapore Airlines to provide Trent 1000 engines. 

They'll power 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Illegal fur coat was from a 'Geoffroy's Cat'

The fur coat seized from a shop in Buxton is made from the pelt of a leopardus Geoffroyi or Geoffroy’s Cat, which is native to South America.

It has the highest level of protection under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

Derbyshire Police say anyone who wants to sell this type of fur coat must have a proper licence, unless the fur pre-dated 1947.

The owner of the wildcat fur coat has formally apologised and won't face any further action.

An illegal fur coat has been seized from a shop in Buxton after it was discovered to be wildcat pelt. 

Police were alerted the coat was genuine fur and was being sold from a shop in the town centre.

Trained wildlife officers and the National Wildlife Crime Unit seized the coat on 8 February.

New climbing centre opens in Derby

Clip n Climb opened its doors yesterday for the first time. 

The centre has a variety of walls to climb and lots objects to jump off.

Manager Emma Haslam has been encouraging people of all ages to try it.

She told Radio Derby: "It's absolutely any age, its from four years and up.

"It's for anybody. Although there are bright colourful walls, some of the walls are quite tricky."

Rams knocked out of the FA Cup

For the second time in less than two weeks, Derby County matched the Premier League champions over 90 minutes. 

Leicester's opening goal was cancelled out by Abdoul Camara's first goal for the Rams.

Charlotte Turpie opened up to us about choosing to have a mastectomy, speaking to us she said:

"For me there was a lot of physiological problems because I woke up completely flat chested, which I thought I was prepared for, but its very different when you wake up.

"Ultimately, hopefully, we won't have to go through what mum went through and that's what I've always tried to keep in my mind, you've got to play the long game."

'Cash for crash' defendants in court

Yesterday a court heard that a Belper man allegedly at the heart of a scam where drivers deliberately caused accidents to fraudulently claim insurance was "a patsy" in the scheme.

Dharminder Nagra, along with five others, are on trial for conspiracy to defraud.

The group is accused of causing 41 collisions around Derbyshire.

All the defendants deny all the charges. 

Derbyshire council tax will rise

Well, we were warned last year about a rise in council tax and it was true.

In Derbyshire will increase by 4%.

It will cost the average Band D household an extra £46 a year.

The increase was agreed by the county council last night. It's blaming falling government funding, rising costs and the ageing population.  

Twins 'beat cancer' with mastectomies

Twins from Belper who've had mastectomies after losing their mother to breast cancer said they feel like they've beaten the disease.

Charlotte and Rose Turpie lost their mother when they were 10.

After their mum's death 16 years ago, they found out they also carried the Braca gene leaving them with an 85% chance of getting the disease.
