  3. Man's body found at house in Holymoorside

    A man's body was found in the rear of a garden in Holymoorside after reports that a woman had been assaulted.

    Paramedics and police were called to an address off Holymore Road on Monday. Details have only just emerged.

    The woman was taken to hospital with head injuries.

    Derbyshire Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.

    Louise Greenhoff wrote: "The amazing work the TA's do is not in dispute, and they and their colleagues have made a huge difference to my son's schooling."

    Kirsty Heathcote added: "I truly hope the council does what is right. Our TA's are underpaid and under valued. Those amazing people in that photo are the reason my children have thrived at school."

    The Education Secretary Justine Greening was in Derby not just to talk about strikes but to visit a hip-hop school in Derby.

  14. Government 'should do more' to tackle persecution of raptors

    The RSPB said its figures only represent a fraction of the true scale of the problem and more needs to be done by the government to stop the killing of birds of prey.

    The bird crime report revealed nationally there were 196 reports of shooting and destruction of birds of prey and 50 reports of wildlife poisoning and pesticide offences in 2015.

  15. County 'one of worst places' for birds of prey

    The RSPB has said Derbyshire is one of the worst places in the UK for the persecution of birds of prey. 

    Its annual report on bird crime shows at least five raptors were killed in the county in 2015, after being shot or poisoned.
