Increase in council tax for policing

Wesley Mallin

Reporter, BBC Radio Derby

Derbyshire's police and crime commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa is planning to increase the amount of council tax paid towards policing by 2%.

The rise would cost the average household just over £3.50 a year, or 7p a week. It would raise about £1m.

Any more than a 2% rise would trigger a local referendum on the charge.

New owners plan 'great new era for Donington'

Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

"I am thrilled that MSV has now acquired the Donington circuit business. Donington has incredible history, being the first permanent road circuit in the country and the only circuit upon which the mighty pre-war Auto Unions and Mercedes Grand Prix cars raced in the 1930s. We plan a great new era for Donington, with some exciting new events and much enhanced quality of experience for all of its customers, whether spectators, competitors and track day participants, together with even better value."
