"Cycling is a hard sport, it's tough as it is. Achieving what he has achieved, he has got to a point, there is not much more that he can really do."

A 20-year-old man has died following a car accident on Boxing Day.

It happened at about 22:10, on Station Road, Killamarsh, on the Derbyshire/South Yorkshire border.

McClaren: 'They deserve all the credit'

Owen Bradley

BBC Radio Derby Sport

Derby are in very good shape at the halfway point of the Championship season. Their progress has surprised even the manager, Steve McClaren, who said:

"We just wanted to get a team and put some performances together, play a bit of good football and see if we could get out of relegation trouble.

"The boys have done that and reacted very well, they deserve all the credit."

Rams' weekend win against Birmingham

Owen Bradley

BBC Radio Derby Sport

It's been a very happy Christmas so far for Derby County. A point off the playoffs, unbeaten in nine, and a club record set too.

Their 1-0 win over Birmingham was a seventh home clean sheet in a row. It's now a whopping 617 minutes since Derby last conceded a goal at the iPro Stadium.

Captain Richard Keogh has played every single one of those record-breaking minutes.

Heanor death: Police appeal for information

Khia Lewis-Todd

BBC Local Live

Det Sgt Adam Gascoigne, who is leading the investigation in to the teenager's death, is asking for the public's help in tracing the occupants of a dark grey Toyota.

“We know the car was in the Heanor area between 11:00 and midday on Christmas Day and I’m asking anyone who has CCTV or dashboard cameras to check their footage for that time.

"Mr Lam’s death remains unexplained and we believe he may have died in a different place to where he was found.”

Heanor body: Teenager identifed

Khia Lewis-Todd

BBC Local Live

Police have named the teenager whose body was found near the entrance to Heanor Memorial Park on Christmas Day.

He was a 17-year-old Vietnamese boy known as Han Lam or Hoang Trung.

Derbyshire police said he's known to have connections to the Birmingham area, but so far they've not uncovered any links with Heanor.

Further tests will have to be carried out after a post-mortem examination failed to discover how he died.

'A great opportunity'

Sally Swinfen

BBC Radio Derby newsreader

Andrew Waterhouse, operations director for UK Fire Doors, said he wanted to take on more staff in the future.

"We saw it as a great opportunity to take advantage of the training, the knowledge and skill set that had been developed here over many years.

"It will probably take a couple of years but I see no reason to why we can't get to 100, maybe a couple more than that."
