Weather: Yellow weather warning

It will turn increasingly cloudy overnight with fog patches forming in the evening. 

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog, which will be in place from 18:00 to 09:00. Driving conditions are likely to be tricky, so please be aware if you're on the roads. 

Children remind drivers not to drink and drive

Amber Valley children have been creating posters reminding drivers not to drink and get behind the wheel.

More than 500 children entered the competition and the winning designs will be used across the county.

Children's football team locked in training ground

Police have begun an investigation after a children's football team were locked in their training ground.

It happened between 10:30 and 12:00 on Saturday at Ilkeston and Stanton Football Club's ground.

About 40 parents and children were at the ground when someone locked the gates with a bike lock that then had to be cut open.

Oil spill clear up will begin tomorrow

An oil spill being investigated in the canal near High Peak Junction could have come from a fuel spillage on a nearby road.

Inspectors from the Environment Agency were called out to Cromford last Thursday evening and put out special booms to halt the slick.

Paul Reeves from the Environment Agency said the slick was about 400m long and they will begin to clear up tomorrow.

Canal oil spillage

Inspectors from the Environment Agency have been out at Cromford this morning investigating an oil spill in the canal near High Peak Junction. 

They've put down special booms to trap the oil slick which is around 400m long.

A 36-year-old women from Burton-On-Trent has died while on holiday in Polzeath, Cornwall.

She was reported missing at about 10:00 on Sunday.

The body of the woman was later located and recovered from the sea by a lifeboat.

'Boris Bikes' scheme 'a good idea'

Gareth from Crich has been in touch about the proposed "Boris Bikes" scheme in Derby.

He said: "The idea to bring Boris Bikes to Derby is a good idea. 

"The plan also opens up another opportunity for Derby City Council. We know there are no concrete plans for The Assembly Rooms - which has been in a state of disuse for almost three years - so why not use the Assembly Rooms as a bike shed?"

Christmas cheer from Derby to Latvia

Eight thousand shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifts for children will leave Derby bound for Latvia today, as part of Operation Christmas Child. 

About 250 organisations and individuals in Derbyshire have contributed items for the boxes.

Cycle hire hope for Derby

A council wants to create a cycle hire scheme in Derby similar to London's so-called Boris Bikes. 

Derby City Council wants to install 15 docking stations across the city for people to hire and return bikes.

The hope is that it will help improve air quality and ease congestion. The plan will be discussed at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.   

Mackworth murder: Man's car missing from home

Detectives investigating the murder of a Derby man are hunting for his car.

Geoff Seggie, 59, was found dead on Thursday at his home on Marylebone Crescent in Mackworth.
