The cousin of a man who's been missing from Shirebrook has organised a search party in the town tonight.

James Brooks has asked people to meet at 20:00 in the car park of the Gate Inn pub - the last place Brad Ward was seen on Friday night.

Mr Brooks said anyone who wants to join the search can do so.

"We just want him to come home," he said, describing his disappearance as "totally out of character".

In more shoplifting news, police would like to speak to the person in this picture after boxes of Ariel washing powder were stolen from a Spar shop in Chesterfield.

A man placed a large number of boxes in a holdall at the corner of Sheffield Road and School Road on November 13, police said.

Bennell found unconscious

Ex-youth football coach Barry Bennell, who is at the centre of a sex abuse scandal, has been taken to hospital after being found unconscious, it's now been confirmed.

He was found at an address in Steveange on Friday, Thames Valley Police said, and remains in hospital today.

The 62-year-old, who is believed to have committed abuse against boys at his former home in the Peak District, is being investigated by four police forces.

A number of former footballers have come forward in the past fortnight to make further allegations against him.

There's been a big debate on what should be included in this inquest which started today and has been timetabled to last between eight and nine days.

A pathologist concluded that Mr Frohwein died of hypothermia.

Derbyshire Police's legal representative has argued that his state of mind and working life is therefore not relevant to this hearing.

But coroner Robert Hunter told the inquest it would be "warts and all" and not just limited to the circumstances of his death. It continues tomorrow.

Elderly driver may have hit cyclist - police

A cyclist who was knocked off his bike in a hit and run may have been hit by an elderly driver, police said.

It happened on Quarry Hill Road in Ilkeston at about 21:30 on Friday 18 November.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries when he was knocked off his bike by the car, thought to be a blue Peugeot 206.

Police said they want to hear from anyone who knows someone with a similar vehicle which may have a damaged front end.

It was the first time in its 135-year history that it had to be cancelled.

Bennell repeatedly raped young footballer

Mr Ackley came forward after Bennell was arrested in Florida for abusing a British boy, for which he served three years in a US prison.

Mr Ackley spoke in a Dispatches documentary in 1997, waiving his anonymity to describe how he had been repeatedly raped by Bennell.

On his return from the US, Bennell was sentenced to nine years at Chester Crown Court in 1998, having pleaded guilty to 23 specimen charges. 

A further 22 allegations were left to lie on his file.

Coach 'abused boys in Derbyshire'

Getting back to the allegations of sexual abuse in football.

At the centre of the claims is coach, Barry Bennell (pictured), who's been jailed three times over the last 20 years for abusing young boys.

It's emerged that at least one of the footballers who has come forward with allegations claims to have been abused by Bennell at his home in the Peak District.

Ian Ackley told the Times last week he was abused there after being invited to stay over at weekends and during school holidays.

FA Trophy: Derbyshire teams need wins

A garage in Woods Meadow, Elvaston, was broken into earlier this month and a large amount of wine was pilfered.

The haul included seven bottles of Dieu Donné Cabernet Sauvignon (pictured) and five bottles of Dieu Donné Shiraz.

He was married and was a father - the search had been organised by his sons.

When his body was found on Grouse Moor, the force said there had been no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Today a coroner will look at all the circumstances to try to establish what exactly happened.

Inquest starts into police officer death

It's almost exactly three years since the body of a Derbyshire Police officer was found by a group of his friends and family in the Goyt Valley, near Buxton.

Tim Frohwein, who was a chief inspector in Chesterfield, had been missing for nearly a week.

Today a coroner is due to examine how the 48-year-old died.

High Peak MP backs FA abuse investigation

You'll have no doubt seen the shocking news last week about the allegations of historical child abuse in football.

Well one of our MPs, who sits on the Culture Media and Sport Committee, has welcomed an FA investigation after more than 20 former players came forward with allegations relating to seven clubs.

M1: Lanes reopen
