  4. Pensioner injured in road rage attack

    There's really no need for actions like these - an 80-year-woman has been left with an injured hand after a road rage attack in Chesterfield.

    It happened on Friday on Ulverston Road, after the woman pulled in to let an approaching car pass.

    However, the driver indicated he wanted her to reverse, got out of his vehicle and became verbally abusive - and snatched her keys from the ignition.

    When she tried to get the keys back from the man, who was described as white and in his late 20s, she cut her hand.

  9. Roache wants 'to be on set at 100'

    Roache, who's 84, said he's not seeing an end in sight - he wants to be the first centenarian soapstar.

    He's been on Coronation Street for 56 years.

    After Ken Barlow collapsed and had a stroke, Ilkeston-born William Roache, who plays him, said the storyline made him fear for his job.

    The 84-year-old actor told media at a Coronation Street event in central Manchester: "Well when I first heard about it I was a bit paranoid - first thing I said was do I get better?"

    "And then I said the only thing I want is medical advice to make sure we're medically correct."

  12. Prize 'will tell nation what Cathedral Quarter has to offer'

    Ashley Lewis submitted the application for the Cathedral Quarter to be named best high street in the city category of the competition.

    But why?

    "It's a fantastic location, beautiful architecture, great mix of businesses, independents and nationals," he said.

    If it wins he said it will "really tell people just how much the Cathedral Quarter has got to offer".

    A blustery afternoon with variable cloud, sunny spells and just one or two showers.

    However, cloud tending to increase from the north later this afternoon with further showers sinking southwards. Some heavy and at times merging into longer spells of rain. 

    The north westerly winds will be fairly blustery which will make it feel a lot colder with highs of 12C (54F).
