  3. FA probe Derby v Leeds racism claims

    The Football Association says it's investigating an alleged racial incident said to have happened at the end of Derby County's home game against Leeds on Saturday.

    Derbyshire Police is also appealing for witnesses after a steward, a police officer and a woman were assaulted in separate incidents when trouble broke out at the iPro Stadium after full time.

  4. Falklands veteran working to beat PTSD

    A Derbyshire veteran is looking forward to getting back to work after losing more than 40 jobs since leaving the army. 

    David Simpson, from Belper, fought in the Falklands War and said: "Anger and anxiety caused my post traumatic stress disorder, I barely left the house, anything could trigger me."

    He's been working with Help For Heroes on a canal restoration in Yorkshire while gaining qualifications.

  5. Woman injured in city centre assault

    A woman suffered facial injuries when she was attacked while walking through Derby on Saturday night.

    The 39-year-old was grabbed by a man on Harriet Street at about 23:30.

    Police said her attacker is believed to be about 40-45 and of Asian or Eastern European origin.

    Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys this afternoon following a collision on the M1 in Leicestershire involving a HGV which has spilled 100 litres of diesel onto the carriageway.

  9. Sudden closure for primary school

    Kadampa Primary School in Derbyshire will suddenly close later this week.

    A spokesperson from the Etwall school said "The governors have no confidence in their ability to continue to run the school and reach a standard of education that's acceptable to them."

    The school will close on Thursday. 

  10. Dog stabbed in burglary

    A black Labrador is recovering after being stabbed by intruders who burgled a home in Swanwick.

    The dog was injured during the break-in at a house on The Meadows between 11:45 and 13.30 on Thursday, in which three watches, cash and a laptop were stolen.

  14. Man jailed over car break-ins

    A Derby man has been jailed for breaking into cars in the Darley area of the city.  

    Kevin Small, 39, of no fixed abode was sentenced to a total of 18 weeks for three offences of theft from motor vehicles on Bank View Road, West Bank Avenue and Burleigh Drive, Derby at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court.

    He was ordered to pay a total of £540 compensation.

  16. M1 Crash: Lorry driver taken to hospital

    The fire service say the crash involved just the one lorry and the person driving it was trapped inside but has now been freed and taken to hospital in Nottingham.

    This is the LGV involved in the collision which caused the M1 to come to a standstill this afternoon.

    No-one is thought to have been seriously injured.

    Three lanes are closed northbound between J23 and J23a and two lanes are closed southbound.
