  3. Camera gear stolen in Mickleover

    Camera equipment has been stolen from a property in Muirfield Drive, Mickleover, police said.

    The owner said the items could have been stolen at any point between 6 September and 1 October.

    Stolen items include:

    • Nikon D7000 camera body
    • a Speedlite flash unit
    • a Nikkar flash unit
    • a Sigma 70-300mm detachable lens.
  4. Silk Mill poppy exhibition named 'Weeping Window'

    More now on the plans to bring the ceramic poppies to Derby's Silk Mill from 9 June to 23 July, 2017.

    The name of the exhibition will be Weeping Window and it's part of a UK-wide tour of the iconic sculptures.

  7. Helmer: We wish Steven Woolfe a 'complete recovery'

    Roger Helmer has also been speaking about Steven Woolfe's role as a leadership candidate for UKIP, following Diane James's resignation.

    "We're obviously extremely concerned for him as a person, but for the party, it would be disappointing if he was unable to stand (for the leadership)," he said.

    Here is a little bit more from East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer about this meeting in Strasbourg.

    "I certainly saw no physical altercation take place and I don't want to speculate what might have happened," Mr Helmer added. 

    "It was a closed meeting of UKIP MEPs and like I say there were lively exchanges of views."

    Roger Helmer, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands, has been speaking about the meeting in which colleague Steven Woolfe was involved in an altercation.

    "There were some lively exchanges of views and I think you'll find that isn't uncommon in political meetings," Mr Helmer told the BBC. 

    "That took place a good two hours before the voting session where I understand Steven Woolfe left. 

    "The first I knew that there might be something going on was at the end of the voting session when one of the bridges was shut off and the ushers said someone had fallen."

    Police say they're growing increasingly concerned for a missing South Derbyshire man.

    James McDonald, 50, was reported missing on Thursday last week but has not been seen by his family since June.

    He has links to Derby, Manchester, South Yorkshire, Devon and Cornwall.

    Police said he drives a distinctive white Ford Transit van which has artificial turf on the bumper.

  12. Receptionist said alleged victim 'extremely drunk'

    The alleged rape is said to have happened after Mr Evans let himself into a room at the Premier Inn in Rhuddlan, Denbighshire, where she was having sex with his friend and fellow footballer Clayton McDonald.

    Mr McDonald, 27, previously of Manchester City and Port Vale but now at non-league Redditch United, was cleared of rape at the original trial.

    Gavin Burrough, the night receptionist at the hotel, told the court the woman was "extremely drunk".

    He said later he heard a woman "squealing" from inside the room as well as "panting noises" and a man using a sexual phrase in a "playful" tone.

    The trial continues.

  13. Ched Evans trial: Alleged victim 'hysterical'

    Here's the latest from Cardiff Crown Court, where footballer Ched Evans is on trial for rape.

    The alleged victim arrived at a friend's house "crying hysterically" the day after the attack, the court has heard.

    Her friend told the court she had told her she'd "woken up naked in the Premier Inn and she doesn't know how she got there".

    She said her friend was "sober" when they last saw each other at about 02:00 on the night in question - 30 May 2011.

    The 27-year-old Chesterfield forward was found guilty of rape in 2012 but the conviction was quashed in April.

  14. Man appears to steal from delivery van in CCTV

    Here's the full CCTV footage of a man police suspect stole £1,000 from a delivery van in Melbourne earlier this week.

  15. Sir Alf's legacy will be remembered at Burton centre

    Sir Alf Ramsey is, of course, the only England manager to date to successfully guide his team to victory in a World Cup in 1966.

    Geoff Hurst, who famously scored a hat-trick, said: “Sir Alf was a modest man but a respected leader. As players he kept us all on our toes and we knew no one was guaranteed a place in the team.

    “It’s fitting that his legacy both as a coach, and as a man, will be remembered here in the wonderful facility that is St George’s Park."

  16. St George's Park road renamed after '66 manager

    The Football Association has officially renamed the road leading to St George's Park in Burton, Sir Alf Ramsey Way, to commemorate England's World Cup winning manager.

  17. Cash stolen from delivery van

    Police would like to speak to the man in the CCTV image about a theft of over £1,000 in cash from a delivery van this week.

    It happened while the driver was inside the Spar on the junction of Derby Road and Chapel Street in Melbourne at about 12:00 on Tuesday.

    "We believe he may be local and would ask that either he, or someone who knows who he is, make contact with us," he said.

    “We would also like to speak to the driver of a silver coloured Citroen people carrier, who just after the footage appears to speak to the man and may know who he is.”
