    Tarasivka, a summer camp in South Derbyshire, is hosting more than 190 children from Ukraine for the next five weeks, with many having lost relatives in the recent civil war.

    Derby has come out as the fourth most misspelt location by users a hotel chain's website, with only Edinburgh, London and Torquay ahead of it.

    The vandalism at Victoria Park in Ilkeston has got people hot under the collar on our Facebook page.

    This is Rosemary Clarke's verdict: "Disgusting. The best thing in Ilkeston are the baskets and gardens looked after by the council gardeners, and mindless morons do this."

    And Stephen Draper posted: "I blame the parents of these scumbags. They are brought up with no values of what is right or wrong and have no respect for others."

  10. Pair arrested in drugs operation

    Two people have been arrested during a drugs raid in Burton.

     A 46-year-old man from Linton and a 47-year-old from Burton were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.

    A powdered substance, prescription drugs and a number of mobile phones were also seized.

  14. Vandals strike at Ilkeston park for second time

    Ilkeston’s Victoria Park has been targeted by vandals for the second time in three weeks.

    Flowers were ripped out of the ground and thrown across the grass and pathways.

    Erewash Borough councillor Mike Wallis said: "I don't think anyone could find the words that adequately sum up the anger, frustration, disbelief and disappointment we feel at this vandalism."

    A war memorial in Castle Donington has been vandalised.

    The monument commemorates fallen soldiers from both world wars and has been in place on the High Street for more than 95 years.
