  4. MPs in committee deciding on Corbyn's leadership

    Labour's ruling National Executive Committee has met this afternoon to decide if Jeremy Corbyn's name should be automatically put on the leadership ballot after a contest was triggered by Angela Eagle.

    There are 33 Labour members on this committee, including Derby's Margaret Beckett and Bolsover's Dennis Skinner.

    If Mr Corbyn isn't allowed on that ballot paper he will have to seek nominations from 51 MPs and MEPs but he might struggle to do that bearing in mind the vote of no confidence in his leadership from the Parliamentary Labour Party. 

    Whatever happens it looks like there will be a leadership contest over the summer.

  5. How much did McFadzean cost Brewers?

    MK Dons defender Kyle McFadzean has joined Burton Albion on a three-year deal.

    The club record fee has not been revealed but Dons boss Karl Robinson had previously said their asking price for the 29-year-old was £500,000.

  6. Derby councillors investigated over taxi licensing

    Three Derby councillors are to be investigated over possible interference in the taxi licensing process.

    The most recent incident saw a councillor write to the crown court giving references for two taxi drivers who were later found guilty of supplying cannabis.

    It happened the day after a report was published by the council's auditors, criticising the way councillors had interfered in taxi licensing.

  7. Aristocrat banned after caught speeding in Derbyshire

    One of the wealthiest aristocrats in the UK has has been banned from driving after he was caught speeding in Derbyshire and other locations over an eight-month period.

    The Duke of Rutland lives in Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire but the family also owns Haddon Hall in Derbyshire.

  9. Derby firm 'proud' to get new airline contract

    Eric Schulz, Rolls-Royce's president of civil aerospace, said: “We are proud to be selected by a valued customer such as Gulf Air and this marks a significant success for the Trent 1000.

    "It has developed a real momentum in the marketplace, winning more than 60% of engine competitions in the last six years.”

  12. Another day, another contract for Rolls-Royce

    There's more good news of another Rolls-Royce contract today.

    Now they've been awarded a $900m contract with Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain's national carrier, to make Trent 1000 engines for their Dreamliners.

    Some of the airline's fleet is already powered by Trent 700 engines made by Rolls-Royce so the new contract will add to that.

    A memorial bench in Bradley Woods in Ashbourne was destroyed on Sunday night.

  15. Brewers snap up defender

    Burton Albion have signed Kyle McFadzean from MK Dons for a club record fee.

    The fee is not being disclosed but is the highest paid by the club, beating the £20,000 spent on Russell Penn in 2009.
