    Derby City Council says it may take up to two weeks to evict travellers who've set up camp on Markeaton recreation ground.

    They were served with a notice to vacate the area by 13:30 yesterday, but didn't comply.

    The High Court's prevented a pharmacy in Derby being relocated because of the potential impact on women seeking the morning after pill.

  8. Lord Nelson letter sold to private buyer

    A letter written by Lord Nelson on his flagship HMS Victory more than 200 years ago, which failed to sell when it went under the hammer in Derbyshire has been sold for £17,000 to a private buyer post-auction.

    The letter dated 28 April 1804 was written when Nelson was "attempting to lure the French and Spanish fleet out of Toulon to give battle" and was expected to fetch up to £30,000 at a Hansons auction in Etwall.  

  9. Council to consider care home sell-off

    Most of Derby's remaining council-owned care homes and day centres could be sold off.

    The authority has published a report which says it'll try and market them to other organisations in the coming months ahead of a decision in November.

  10. Water flows under scrutiny

    Nice enough day to be outdoors ... the Environment Agency has been checking water flows on the River Churnet, which has its source in the Derbyshire Peak District, before winding through the Staffordshire Moorlands.
