    Euan Duncan

    BBC Local Live

This is no toy ... it's called a Unimog and it's one of the specialist vehicles used by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to tackle moorland fires where ground conditions can be challenging.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Fireman Sam in one of these but it could prove useful for dealing with this afternoon's moorland fire near Ladybower Reservoir.

Hot work in the field for Derbyshire's cricketers as Sussex are piling on the runs at the County Ground.

A short time ago, the visitors were 293-1 with Ed Joyce 143 not out and Luke Wells unbeaten on 104.

  10. How popular is your city councillor?

    Chris Doidge

    BBC Radio Derby political reporter

I’ve been looking at which newly-elected Derby city councillors enjoy the biggest mandate ... in other words, how many registered voters in the ward chose the winning candidate.

Graphic showing level of support for winning local election candidates

If you factor in turnout, some councillors received relatively low levels of support from their local adult population.

  13. Planet passes across the sun

    Euan Duncan

Astronomers at Alvaston Park in Derby

Telescopes were being set up at Alvaston Park in Derby to capture the moment. Nice way to get a sun tan.
