  2. Weather: Rain at first overnight which clears later

    It will stay cloudy this evening with some patchy rain which will ease, and the skies clear through the night, with the potential for some isolated fog patches and lows of 5C (41F).

  3. Burton's movie dreams dashed

    You're all set to make your debut in the movies as an extra and then ... a change of plans means Paddy Considine will no longer be filming at Burton Albion's football ground.

    The movie maker was originally supposed to be at the Pirelli Stadium on 2 April and had asked for extras to come along and get involved.

    A spokesperson for the film company said the story had evolved and they no longer need scenes from a football stadium.

  4. Two injured and four arrests after Derby brawl

    Police have arrested four men after two groups of people got into an argument in Derby's Riverside Gardens.

    A fight broke out and two men suffered minor injuries at about 20:00 on 17 March. 

    The arrested men are aged between 17 and 22 and have been released on bail while inquiries continue.

  6. Teenage girls admit plan to kidnap babies

    Two teenage girls have pleaded guilty at Derby Youth Court to planning to kidnap babies.

    The girls, 17 and 18, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted conspiracy to kidnap babies relating to offences committed between 14-23 September last year.

    The pair from Evesham and Wellingborough have been bailed and will be sentenced at the youth court on 20 May.

    One of the teenagers had previously admitted a charge of attempting to kidnap an infant from a house in Normanton.

  7. Elite swimmers stay on at Moorways

    The Derby swimming club Derventio Exel is being allowed to continue using Moorways pool, even though it'll be closed to the general public.

    The authority says it'll relieve the pressure on Queen's Leisure Centre, which has a pool closed for repair work.

    League One leaders Burton Albion have signed Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker on loan until the end of the season.

    There'll be outbreaks of rain during this afternoon with a maximum temperature of 8C (46F).

    It'll be a cloudy evening with further outbreaks of heavy rain at times, although the rain will gradually clear eastwards to leave clearer skies by dawn, with a minimum temperature of 2C (36F).

  10. Barker ready for testimonial tribute

    Famous faces from Derby County's past will be at the iPro Stadium this evening for Shaun Barker's testimonial.

    The former Derby captain has assembled a team to play a current Rams eleven.

    A portion of the gate receipts will be going to the Shaun Barker foundation.

  11. England call-ups highlight progress under Welch

    So Derbyshire County Cricket Club have secured the services of elite performance director Graeme Welch for a further two years.

    Club chairman Chris Grant said: “Graeme has played a key part in the club’s progression over the past two-and-a-half years and his contract extension will ensure stability for everyone involved.

    “If we are to continue to be sustainable as a county, we need to be producing our own players and Graeme’s role in this has been clear to see.

  12. Welch staying on at Derbyshire

    Elite performance director Graeme Welch has signed a two-year deal to remain at the County Ground until the end of 2018.  

  13. Brewers look to bolster squad for run-in

    Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough is set to add to his squad before the emergency loan window closes later today.

    The League One leaders are expected to extend the stay of Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury, who has tweeted today that he's staying at the Pirelli Stadium until the end of the season.

    The Brewers boss would like to complete another deal ahead of the deadline to act as cover for the rest of the campaign.

  14. Tattoo show fails to impress local expert

    Are you a fan of body art? A celebrity tattooist from Derby says a Channel 4 show is damaging the industry's reputation.

    The programme "Tattoo Fixers" has helped transform clients' regrettable tattoos into something different.

    Kevin Paul has done correction work on some of those who appeared on the show and were unhappy with the result, and says he has many issues with it, including the experience of the tattooists.

    Channel 4 has yet to reply to BBC Radio Derby.

  15. Images of Rams fans released after station fight

    South Yorkshire Police want to identify Derby County supporters alleged to have been involved in a fight on a railway station platform at Rotherham.

    Around 30 Rams fans ran from a train across tracks at the station to fight with Rotherham United supporters on the opposite platform.
