  6. Unlicensed driver reported after cyclist crash

    Police say an unsupervised provisional licence holder has been reported for dangerous driving after a collision between a car and a cyclist in Derby.

    It happened shortly after 08:00 at Spider Island.The cyclist is being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

  9. Latest on snow-hit routes

    Derbyshire County Council has been tweeting about its snow clearing efforts.

    It said "Gritters were out on primary routes in snow-affected areas all morning and will continue to patrol/grit this afternoon.  

    "Snake Pass and Cat and Fiddle still closed, unlikely to reopen today. Highways England closed Woodhead Pass too.

    "Glossop road closures due to snow and Torside closed due to utility works making life difficult. Doing all we can in difficult circumstances."

  10. Show portrays woman's RAF experiences

    Rebecca Crookshank is bringing her one-woman show to Derby telling the story of her career in the RAF.

    She claims she was sexually harassed while serving as the only woman at a base on the Falkland Islands.

    Rebecca says the harassment started as soon as she arrived, and she eventually left the RAF in 2001 to train as an actress.

    The RAF says it has no record of a complaint being made but says there been significant enhancements to the complaints process in the 15 years since these alleged incidents. 

  11. Hand injury hampers Reid

    Derby golfer Mel Reid is battling injury at present judging by a tweet today: "Golf is way easier when my right hand isn't in agony."

    Despite the wrist problem, Reid managed a second round two under par 70 at the HSBC Women's Champions event in Singapore, having carded an opening round eight over par 80.

    Reid was forced to withdraw during her second round of her previous tournament in Australia.

  12. Youth tries to rape teenager in park

    Police are hunting a youth who tried to rape a teenager in a Derby park.

    The 14-year-old victim was chatting to a boy in Caxton Park when the offender approached and propositioned her.

    Derbyshire Police say the girl said 'no', but the boy then pulled down his trousers and attempted to rape her on Monday evening, before riding off on his bike.

  14. Cyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries

    A cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision with a car in Derby this morning. 

    It happened shortly after 08:00 at the Spider Island, and Osmaston Park Road was closed between the island and Moor Lane for about three hours.

    A police spokeswoman said the bike rider's injuries aren't life-threatening.
